Lake is beautiful. The cabin section seemed nice, just drove through it. Staff at station was very helpful and friendly. Isn't a park to fish from bank except in the day use area. The pier started swaying toward the end, a bit scary. Not much for kids to do here. Good place for weekend fishing/boating trip and a cold one.
Still no electric sites available yet(due to hurricanes). But have enjoyed camping there in the past. Great beach. Very nice shower houses. Bring a canopy! No shade, not any. Not far from park you can pick up fresh seafood to cook. Very handy. Great boating, jet skiing, and fishing(from boat). Pier hasn't been rebuilt yet. So close to ocean but your going to want large amount of mosquito spray, unless you are on the beach itself. Not sure I'd recommend it for the very young, due to no shade.
Very nice! We camp alot in tri-state area, this is one of our favorite's. Kids enjoyed themselves. Family oriented. Only downside is that it's difficult getting a site around holidays. Have to book well in advance for standard or deluxe site. Not for primitive, which is well maintained with very nice sites also. Says there are "walk-up" sites available but for pop-up or RV'ers I wouldnt recommend chancing it. Only 5 minutes off the interstate which is nice. Feel free to say hello for every holiday weekend next year!! See you there...
Decent park. Lots of wildlife. We didn't let our kids use the pool. Lots of day use kids using pool. Older kids. The beach area was okay but had a fair amount of seaweed type grasses. Good area for boating and jet skiing. Did have many nice picnic areas available. Not sure about security, only saw them once. Playground equiptment left a bit to be desired. Doubt that we return.
Very nice. Well maintained. Good place to take children. Lots of wide open areas for them to play. Park security was always noticeable. Fishing from bank was easily accessable. Big flea market across from entrance of park. Going back next month. Highly recommended.
We stayed here once. We live close by. We camped in the front part and were very dissatisfied. The back part was much nicer. Had to listen to drunken arguments at next camp site. Lots of worker's staying here. Nothing here to entertain children. Nice fishing pier in back. I doubt that we stay here again.
Beautiful state park. Very well maintained. Heated bathrooms and separate shower rooms. Great! Only complaint, and it was very irritating is that when we arrived and asked for a site was told they had one left. No.8, was extremely narrow. Found out the next day that it's the worst spot in park and that there were numerous spots in the next section of campground. Windy Hill section was very nice. I complained at the desk and they apologized and we packed up and moved to a better location. They do lower the lake level at times during the year. Might want to check into that first if you're wishing to fish from bank.
The park was a bit confusing to get around but not terrible. Bathrooms were old but okay. The spots on the east loop are pretty nice but the spots #62 & #63 are very small and would only select as a last resort. Overall the park itself is very nice. The only cabin is in a very secluded spot and not near the lake. Nice place for children. Fishing from bank was very accessable. Lots of great picnic areas for day use, also. Going back soon!!
