Great state park with plenty to do. Excellent hiking trails with MANY geocaches. Most sites are large and paved with plenty of room between campers. Lots of shade. I don't think that the restrooms are easily assessable from most of the sites. We stay here 4 to 5 times a year, but never in the summer because it is too hot. What we really like is that it is only 15 minutes from the house.
We have stayed here several years while attending Wursfest. Although it is very convenient, it does not suit us any more. When we first stayed here, they inquired about the age and condition or our trailer, but now it does not seem to matter how old or what condition a trailer is in. They now do not allow camp fires of ANY kind. Now they no longer allow kids to ride ANYTHING in the park: no bicycles, push scooters or anything. Our kids were riding scooters in the VACANT spot next to ours and the park host came over to rudely tell them to quit. On top of all of this, and the loud traffic noise, our group of four campers will not return.
This a great park! All of the sites are great no matter which section. Restrooms were currently being remodeled and the portable restrooms and showers were as good as can be expected. Miles and miles of great hike and bike trails. Quiet and shady. So close but yet you feel so far away!
This is a beautiful park, with lots of shady pine trees. Great trails with some nice caches. Great paddling on Lake Raven, but be careful of the gators. Not real easy to get to from the south because you have to travel through Houston. Be ready to do some SERIOUS leveling!!!
