This is a return trip to this KOA and unfortunately the place is not as nice as our last visit. I had forgotten how narrow the sites are. The site is concrete but the area around your rig used to be grass but is now dirt/sand. You could not avoid it when you step outside your RV. Rain made things even worse because then we had mud. It seems that the landscape is not a priority. There is a pool to swim in and the distance to the beach is just a short bike ride. These two things keep my review higher than it would be otherwise. Very disappointed in this stay and fortunately we only planned on a few days here. We were anxious to move on. Not sure if we'll stay again.
My new favorite park! This place was great for relaxing but also close enough to plenty of activities in town to keep us entertained. Within 15-20 minutes you can be at Grandfather Mountain, zip lines, rafting, hiking, etc. Downtown Boone is nice too for shopping. The campground has large sites and we were on a stream as well. Lots of privacy between our site and the neighbors. There is a huge game room, a nice "living room" area for reading, TV, etc. They also have a computer with Internet access for campers to use. Wi-Fi was stronger than any campground so far but could not get at my site (had to go to living room with my laptop). Nice open field for playing with dogs and there is a lake for fishing. I am looking forward to my next stay here! One last thing...do not worry about other reviews saying the drive is too difficult for large rigs. It is your typical country road with curves and no shoulder but nothing out of the ordinary. This worried us (we are from FL with flat, straight roads) but we did fine in a 33 foot motorhome. Worth the drive!
This was a nice park but not a whole lot to do inside the campground. Nothing at all for kids to do so it is fortunate mine are grown. Cable TV hook up gave us 13 channels. The park layout is a bit odd and there is a sharp turn in one spot where big rigs may have trouble (we are 33 ft). Our site was along a creek which was nice for the sound effects. Sites are very narrow and not very deep. Our front end was sticking out a bit onto the main road and we were not the only rig with that issue. The big plus for this park is the distance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is just a few miles from the campground. Lots of hiking trails and beautiful overlooks there. Park would have had a better rating if site was bigger, cable was more worth it, and if there was more to do in the park itself. We would come back if we do the BRP tour again.
Breathtaking views all around us! Beautiful lake for swimming and boating. Campground has a boat ramp and beach area. Clear and clean water to keep cool in. Marina close by (15 min drive) where we rented a boat at a reasonable price. Sites were large but not necessarily private. Big rigs will not make friends on the roads leading to the campground because the road is narrow and curvy. Plenty of room to navigate inside the park. No sewer or cable (these would have made my rating a 10). Clean restrooms. Did I mention the view? I'll be back again!
We have stayed here several times but always just for an overnight stop on our way out of state. It is perfect for just that: an overnight stop. Not recommended as a destination itself. It is just off I-75, easy in and easy out. Pull through sites mean no disconnect of tow vehicle. Clean bathrooms. Cable TV available for a fee. You can walk to dining and convenience stores. Plenty of choices for both. This is a typical interstate exit area. Not much to do in the campground itself but worth a stay if you are tired from driving and want to rest for the night.
We are not usually a fan of Encore parks but this is a definite exception. Most sites have plenty of space, lots of shade (sat outside when the temperature was 95), and plenty to keep busy with. All amenities are well maintained including pool, mini golf, dog park, etc. Close to beach and great bike trails. The only negative is that some of the sites are at odd angles so you are door to door with someone behind you. Still, there is plenty of room between sites so it wasn't too close for comfort. We will be visiting again soon!
We stayed at this park primarily for the golf and it turned out to be a nice course. It is also on the river so we brought our fishing equipment but ran out of time to fish. There is also a rodeo arena where they keep horses for riding. We found a clubhouse with pool tables, a library, and large TV. Staff very friendly and helpful. Park mostly empty because most snowbirds are gone this time of year. TV reception not great and no cable TV. Very little shade to be found. River view sites are older and have more trees. Plenty of room to spread out even with awning and slides out. About 15 minute drive to Labelle for groceries, gas, etc. Very nice park. Would be a 10 if there was more shade and had cable TV. Bring your bikes: this is a large park.
This is one of the best campgrounds. We have been here several times. The only time of year we avoid is early August because the place gets overrun with caterpillars (thousands of them everywhere). Great beaches just a bike ride away. Great dog park. Ferry rides available. Small store with very basic stuff. Canoe rentals. Bathrooms are OK and usually clean. Choose a spot on the water if you can. Some sites on seawall, others on a beach where you can drag your kayak into the water from your site. The only thing that could improve this park would be sewer hookups. We stay here 2-3 times a year.
It was our first visit to Daytona Beach KOA. The sites are rather narrow and there is no shade to be found. We had a back in along the perimeter which seemed to be better than the sites in the middle which are side-by-side and back to back. There are two bath houses. One was immaculate and must have been recently redone. The other was not so good (the one near the front). The park staff very friendly and helpful. There is a place for dogs to play in a fenced area. The pool very clean and refreshing. The beach is about a 10 minute drive but we do not recommend biking there because of traffic and the bridge. We would stay here again but because of site size would avoid busy times. Graded at 8 because of the size and lack of shade. It is a cozy park otherwise.
