The restrooms/showers have been completely done over and are clean and very nice now. Floors are tiled, shower has good pressure, and one can get a very nice hot shower. The really only down side to this park is the quality of the water. Although work has been done on the water system recently, it is still well water and brown. I would not fill my fresh water tank here, and DO NOT use the laundry facilities - your clothes will become stained with the brown color. There is a very clean laundromat in Sikeston not far away. The water is the only reason for the low mark.
This lovely park is OPEN! The owners of the land (park is on Cherokee Reservation) have taken over management of the park as of March 2010. The restrooms are immaculate. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We arrived at 10 PM. Gate attendant led us skillfully to our site and then showed us another one better for our satellite setup. We took that one. Branches touching our front A/C unit were trimmed away the next morning. Sites are level. Cable TV in row 600 is good, rest are spotty or nonworking, but management is revamping park and working on that issue. Currently no WiFi, but we have HughesNet and had no problem. Air cards will probably not work here due to being in a valley. There are fire rings at sites. It's very peaceful, very quiet with loads of space between rigs. We are staying here 2 weeks and hate to leave. Easy to get to if you follow directions on their Website. After looking at other parks nearby, this is THE place to stay. We will definitely be back if we are in the area.
Actually a nice smaller park with no frills. Wi-Fi was fine, no problems. We like the convenience of restrooms/showers on-site, but this was not a big issue. Owners were very helpful and friendly. Walking paths on property were really nice. Only real drawback is there was no signal for our cell phones; we had to be out on the highway (in the truck, not walking) to get a signal/reception. Some noise from FM 165 but sites farther back in park probably would not have that.
This is overall a nice park with very friendly owner and young workamping couple. Nice common area and some sites have great trees. The reason we will not be back is that the park is directly behind the post office and every morning we were awakened at 4 AM with the noise of a big mail truck being loaded. CLUNK CRASH BEEP CLUNK SCRAPE CLUNK. The noise off Hwy 281 was tolerable. Our site really needed the grass/weeds cut, as a result we were constantly picking burrs out of everything. Thought it odd that the park office was closed on weekends, when one would think the busiest time would be. Again, nice park and people (staff and other RVers) but unfortunate location.
Stayed here 8 nights due to illness/death in family, first by myself and then with my husband. All staff members were friendly and kind. Arriving alone, I was escorted to my site. The park is well maintained and very pleasant. The restrooms and showers were virtually immaculate. WiFi was included in the rate and the signal was strong. The park was quiet and I slept soundly. We already have reservations to return there over the July 4th weekend! Thanks to all the staff for your help and kindness during a very difficult time.
We gathered here to visit an ill relative who lives nearby. Another family member camped and was allowed to put up his tent on our RV site. Having explained our purpose for being there when making the reservation, staff put us in a beautiful site which was private and near the bath house. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The park was quiet and idyllic, with deer, rabbits, quinea fowl, chickens wandering about. The springs was closed for repair of damage during hurricanes last year and work was being done on it while we were there. Many trails to walk and again, not crowded at all. We were able to have a nice campfire. It was very quiet but I bet that changes during summer when the springs is open for swimming. We plan to return later this year for another family gathering.
I stayed here 2 nights in my travel trailer while visiting a relative in nearby Robinson. This park was clean, easy to find, and about 10 minutes from family I was visiting. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the lower section, which was wooded and peaceful. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe. The park was very quiet. My site was wooded and almost felt like staying in a state park. I will definitely return here! Thanks, Connie and Skipper, for a delightful visit!
We have stayed here twice. The owners live on-site and are friendly and helpful. There are mostly full-timers here with a few overnight spots. Many sites are concrete pads or runners and have trees around. There is another park closer into Bastrop that is more "well manicured" but we prefer this one as it is friendly, quiet, easy to get to, and far enough away from the town lights to see the stars. The park is large and we walk it quite a bit. Our Wi-Fi was included in the price and worked. The park is easy to find and it is easy to get into Bastrop from the park. It has become our "getaway" destination when we only have a night or two!
We stayed here for a few nights, taking in the sights of San Antonio. This park was clean and fairly quiet considering it was located on a busy road. There was construction going on next door, but we hardly noticed it. The staff was friendly and helpful. This park was easy to get to and nicely located for going into downtown and around town. We would stay there again!
Although the owners/managers were friendly, the park itself needed attention when we were there. Pros were our site had shade and the park was quiet and away from highway noise. Cons were obvious maintenance issues that need addressing including the restrooms and the grounds in general. We camped for a few nights. We plan to return to Rockport this spring but not to this park.
