This campground is not wooded, but they do have trees providing shade. True there is no pool, but we did not intend to use one so that was fine and the price was less than others in the area that did offer a pool so I felt it was priced accordingly. First of all, the greeting I received in the office was very friendly and helpful, check in deserves a 10. The site was level and hookups were in good working order. I did not see a broken picnic table in the entire park, all were painted and in good condition. This RV park is right off the highway and is easy access for the biggest rigs, but there is some highway noise as noted in an earlier review. I would add that we were not bothered by the cars and trucks from I-78. As much as we enjoy traveling and road trips there is a certain calming sound from normal traffic that I enjoy. Lastly, we stayed here for a week and our purpose in the area was to visit family. I was surprised to find that this RV park DOES NOT charge day visitors. This was huge for us as our kids and family came in and out to visit. This park will be our home base for future trips to eastern PA.
We camped here over the 4th of July weekend and the park was full. We lost power several times during the holiday weekend (reason unknown) however service was restored fairly quickly. The sites were adequate but not overly large, some were however big enough to accommodate big rigs. The camp store was average and stocked with the basics. All sites had water and electric hookups. No issues getting level at our site. Staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived and provided an escort to our site. If you are looking for a home base while sightseeing in the area this campground will provide that. The local ferry services to Mackinac Island will provide free shuttle service to the ferry dock.
We stayed here for weekend a couple of years ago, I rated it then and said we would not return. Well we did decide to try this campground one more time and glad we did. One main concern last time we camped here was the electric which has been upgraded and no longer an issue. This campground is well shaded with lots of trees. Some of the older seasonal sites that were so run down last time we were here have been removed. Most are well kept, but as always in most campgrounds, there are a few that need general clean up. The pool was nice. We did not use the laundry or bathroom facilities although I did walk through the ladies room adjacent to the office and it was clean with no obvious problems. They do not have trash pick up at your site so depending on where your site is located you may have to walk a distance to the dumpster. Overall our stay here was quite pleasant and we will stay here again.
Not well kept but was fine for an overnight stay. We would not have stayed any longer. 5 or 6 pull through sites in the middle surrounded by some very run down trailers and 5th wheelers. Our site (a pull through) had full hook ups including cable TV and was fairly level on partial gravel. Easy access off the highway and it was quiet. Probably would not stay here again.
Nice campground, close to I-40 but far enough to be quiet. Roads were not bad but could use some gravel. Check in was quick and friendly with an escort to our site. Our site was fairly level but a little tight for a big rig. We would stay here again when in the area.
Very nice RV park. Check in was quick and easy, many sites were pull through. Overall campground was very clean and appeared well maintained and big rig friendly. Our site was adequate size for an overnight stay, some were larger. The price was very reasonable, we have paid more for much less in other areas. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.
This is a beautiful campground, well laid out, easy access with paved roads and level gravel sites. Bathrooms and laundry facilities were clean. The grounds were well kept, grass mowed with nice flower beds. The only negative for some would be that the campground is just off the highway and subject to road noise. Our site was one of the closest to the highway and although I was not bothered by the noise of traffic, some campers might be. We would return again when in the area.
Our site was large and mostly wooded. There was no sewer or water hookup but water was available throughout the area. Roads were good, some dirt, some paved and sites were gravel. Sites were laid out in a way that made them very easy to back into. This was our first time in a State Park and would definitely return when we are in the area again. Bathrooms and showers were clean and adequate but old or I would have rated higher. With that said, there we no real negatives.
We camped here for 3 nights and this was our first time at this campground. Sites are spacious and mostly wooded. The campground was very clean and staff was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were old and small but clean and adequate. I would have rated this one higher but the I felt the bathrooms and showers were in need of a face lift. The price was fair for the facilities and unlike some other campgrounds in the area this one has not raised prices and cut site spaces in half. Colonial Woods is now a family favorite and we will definitely return.
Upon arrival at our site we found a water leak causing excess mud and soft ground. Another camper close by was actually stuck and sunk into the mud in their campsite. We found the staff and manager unconcerned about conditions and did nothing to stop the water leak that was causing the issues. We will not return.
We camped here for 2 nights and our site was large and well shaded. Management should consider cutting back some of the tree branches because they are low hanging in most areas. Our site was uneven but we were able to get level. Being self contained we did not use the bathrooms which was a good thing because all that was near us was port a johns. Overall this was a nice campground, family oriented and quiet considering it was full. We will definitely return to this campground.
This campground has a lot of potential but desperately needs maintenance. We could not back into our site all the way because of low hanging electrical wires. One section of seasonal sites was well maintained, but many others were down right scary. The bathrooms need to be removed and replaced. We will not return.
We camped at Bear Run Campground over the July 4th holiday and had a great time. Overall the campground is very well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The majority of the sites are for seasonal campers, and most are very well kept. Our site was one of the larger ones on the property but still smaller than we prefer. The camp store was well stocked, and prices were reasonable. We would definitely return again.
