Spent the weekend here and really enjoyed ourselves. It is not a fancy resort by any means, but it does have a nice store and even a bar and grill. There is a jet ski rental and a beach area. The owner is a really nice guy and willing to do most anything to make your stay enjoyable. It is definitely pet friendly. It is an active campground, but everyone was very respectful, there were many families, so our kids had a blast. We camped right on the water. We will definitely be coming back!
This is a very well kept camp ground. We were fooled a bit thinking there was a beach on site, but there is only a sandy area up on a bulk head. The water down below is very shallow and there are stairs down. Since you are in sound the water is rather calm and great for letting the kids swim. After looking at the other options in the 20 mile radius it was the best value for us. I would not pay extra for a waterfront sites, because it is really not worth it since you don't have a beach. But keep in mind that is a quite a walk from the street side of the park to the water, so judge accordingly when making reservations. My kids really enjoyed the playground and the pool. The park was super clean and the hosts were very pleasant. The spaces are tight, but you have to expect that in a resort area. The state parks have more private campsites, but they are much further from the water, so you most likely will drive to the beach anyway. It is pet friendly and really family oriented. We will definitely go back. It was just a short drive over the bridge the the Navarre Beach, it is just gorgeous.
The beach is GREAT! The park is no frills. The grounds were okay, but it seams the "long term" campers plant what they want and customize the sites to their liking. Some sites had tiled patios and other just had minimal concrete to park your rig. Our biggest complaint was the burs in the grass. The kids and the dog were constantly stepping on them and getting them stuck in their feet. It makes you wear your saddles constantly. Make sure you look for the bigger sites when reserving, because some of the sites are very tight, but others are very well spaced. I would stay there again only because of the beach, but my wife is not so convinced because of the all the burs in the grass. The KOA next door looked very nice, but it is on the bay side. We may try it out next time, because you can always drive to the beach.
We had a great time at the Thomas the Train event, and we even took the Fall Steam Train Excursion out of Palestine. The park was full, but well maintained. We always like staying here. The pull thru spaces are convenient, but I suggest getting there early because the park is dark at night. We learned that they hard way two years ago for the Polar Express. We will definitely be back.
This is a great park that is really convenient to Fredericksburg shopping and events. The area we stayed in had the sites back to back and it was a bit tight because we have a big coach and the fifth wheel behind us was big too. The hook ups are in kind of an odd place so make sure you have a long sewer hose and power cord. The water pressure was kind of low, but we really enjoyed the stay. The airport next to the park gave us hours of entertainment, there must have been an air show this weekend, because we saw all kind of vintage planes taking off and doing formations. But we never heard a plane at night. We will definitely stay here again.
This was a great park! We can't wait to get back. We stayed here for a couple of days, until our trip was interrupted by Hurricane Gustav. The sites are about 3/4 of a mile off the beach, so it is a hike if you have kids, we drove. The sites only have 30 AMP services and no sewer, so if you have a long stay, reduce your water consumption. The sites are wooded, so at least you have some shade and one A/C kept our Motorhome bearable in the 96 degree days. Make sure you have room for your slides when making reservations, some of the sights were really tight, but they have many that will accommodate slides. The sights are very private. If you plan to use the public bathrooms, get a sight in the middle because they have walkways to the restroom, otherwise you have to walk around the drive to the entrance because the sites to heavily wooded to cut through anywhere. The beach is unbelievable! My boys kept thinking the white sand was snow. My youngest kept laying down in the sand because it was so soft. The water was crystal clear, it was amazing to see the fish and crab right off the shore. A man was literally catching big crabs with a hand net. This is a wonderful place to camp. It is off the beaten path, so the beach was not over crowded, or commercialized, and you really felt like you were in nature, yet all the amenities were only a short drive away. We highly recommend it!!! Lots to see and take in.
This is a great family park. We truly enjoyed ourselves. We looked at some of the other area parks while we were here and found that Wolf Creek much more family oriented with it's amenities than Double Lake and even Livingston State Park. The others parks have very secluded sights, but are nice. The kids like being able to do things other than fish and look at the stars. The kids loved the playground, and sites on the water were great. We will definitely be back.
This is a decent park right on the ocean. It is perfect for walks on the beach or surf fishing. They were completing construction on new bathroom facilities when we were there, and they looked like they would be very nice. Since it is on the beach there is no shade, but the proximity to the water is great. We already have our next camping trip scheduled to this park.
This is an extremely old park, and since it is in the desert there is not much scenery, except the lake. We were more than a little dissappointed with this park. The lake is really neat and it was not a bad park, but it was on the bottom of the list of parks we have visited. The park staff was grumpy and the only thing that kept the kids entertained was the rabbit running around. We cut our trip short and headed home.
We really enjoyed this facility. It was no frills, but you are there to see the Grand Canyon anyway. The sights are very close together, but it was still very quiet. The shuttle picks you up right at the gate and takes you almost anywhere you want to go in the National Park. the staff was very helpful and even warned us about leaving our sewer hose out, because the birds would poke hole in it. We truly enjoyed our stay and will book a trip here again.
The park was clean, but it was not worth the fee in my opinion. It doesn't even have WiFi Internet. The staff in the office was not as helpful as I would expect, but the grounds people were great. They have a small park for kids, and a pool, but the camp sights are all very close to each other. But, since there is not much of a selection to choose from in this area to camp, unless you are over 55, I would stay here again. I still think it is expensive for what you get.
This is a beautiful park. The wooded sites are amazing. You have to take the boat ride onto the lake to experience the beauty of the lake. It is like nothing I have ever seen. It is like stepping back in time to a prehistoric movie. The park is well kept and super quiet. This is one of our favorite parks in TX.
This is a really nice park. The sites are very close together, so don't come here for a private weekend retreat. This is for entertaining the kids. There was a lot of construction while we were here, they are about to open a new section of campsites. The kids loved the water slides and petting zoo. The putt putt golf was also a hit. The park employees were so nice and the visit by Yogi Bear was the highlight of our days there.
This is a great park. It was really clean and the kids loved the brand new playground. This is such a little gem. I would highly recommend this park. It was quiet and all the people were extremely nice.
We stayed here to enjoy the Polar Express train that runs on the Texas Railroad. The park was very well kept, the facilities were clean and the kids loved the playground. All the sights are pull through and are all along the road, so you don't feel like you are squished in, side by side. We will come back again when we ride the train in the future.
