This place is run by the campground-nazi's. Nice location with lots of potential, but the owners are control-freaks. Owner insisted on riding his bike with us to our site, then insisted on "helping" us back up and backed us right into a tree! Thanks! Electric gates (this is the middle of the bush in the mountains remember), key cards (deposit required), and wooden guard houses with signs that say "surveillance units". A major (new) section of the park has only out-houses for toilets, no shower or wash facilities (walk is 20 minutes back to the main park for flush toilets etc). The whole place had a very weird energy to it. We won't go back.
Great park just off Hwy 1. Nice people working hard to make this a pretty place. All sites are pull-through along paved roads and face inward on grass. However, the sites slope inward, making getting in and out of your rig an jungle-gym experience. Lots of space between sites. About 10 minutes to town. Nice places to walk with a great "pond" for swimming (man-made) with sand beach and shaded areas.
This park is west of town on Dinosaur Trail. Don't confuse it with other parks in town (which are less than adequate). The closest part to the Tyrell Museum, 15 minutes to town, treed and grassed sites with full hook-ups and WiFi that works ($3/day). Along the banks of the Red Deer River, great for dog walks, kid friendly too with playground and pool. There are really no down-sides to this park. Even in 35+ degree heat, power worked great and big old trees gave us lots of shade.
This park includes full hook-ups on asphalt and treed / shaded sites with power and water. Adjacent to beautiful Henderson Lake (2 minute walk), Japanese Gardens, the fair grounds, horse track and small casino (below the track). Great location for a few nights. Horsey smells from the track were a bit strong. But overall a good place to visit.
