We were very pleased with this campground. Almost level sites, clean and friendly. I would have given this campground a 10 if not for the very narrow sites. I have 3 wide slide outs and saw a potential for a problem should the campground be full. Otherwise, this campground is a great place to stay for a night or two. Its close to Interstate 40 and only about 23 miles to the petrified forest.
This park gets high score for the location and level sites. However I gave this park a 5 due to 2 things. First, and not as important, was the poor quality of the cable TV. Others have complained about the cable but nothing seems to be done. The night we were there we had no water after 8pm. The office was closed and did not reopen until 8am. The next morning I went to the office to complain and the woman working there said "I am just an employee". I left a note requesting the management call me. When the manager called he was extremely defensive right off the top! He had the nerve to say I did not know how to work the water faucet! I told him I tried it 3 different times and it only gave me a trickle. Not even enough to brush our teeth. Again he said. "You obviously do not know how to work the faucet." This is one campground I will never stay in again and will spread the word for others to beware!
We arrived late in the evening to a warm welcome and friendly help. The service was excellent, the site was well maintained and level. Our view was of the Mississippi River and spectacular! Although we did not use the bathhouse, we were pleasantly surprised to find out the laundry room was free! The only problem we encountered were the mosquito's! They were plentiful and huge! Overall an excellent stay and we will certainly return to this campground given the chance!
Our truck broke down just as we arrived in the campground and the service was wonderful! They were very accommodating and the maintenance crew was excellent! They helped us set up and asked if there was anything else they could help us with. They even stopped by to ask us how we were doing and to see if we needed further assistance as they knew we were stranded for a week. Although the sites need a little work, overall they were great. Just be prepared for lots of ants!
