Appropriately named! This campground was probably once a very splendid place to stay, but it is definitely going down FAST! The woman that runs the place is very odd and rude. You have to go to her house to check into the campground because there is never anyone in the office. The office smells like kitty litter box (or meth). I would not use the laundry facilities here, they were filthy and so were the showers. Other than that the park was fairly private, the lots were big. Nice shade trees. Close to other city amenities. We stayed here for 3 months because we had to. There are not a lot of other options in the Gillette area due to the flow of oil field workers. The woman that runs the place over charges BIG TIME due to that fact. We paid 800 a month for this dump!
This campground is not what you would call luxurious. However it was as well maintained as a campground in the middle of the dessert can get. We really enjoyed staying here. The lots are big and open. You can have as much privacy as you'd like. The staff is very friendly and they enforce the rules without getting into your business. We were allowed to have a campfire outside on Saturday nights with all of the other campers. We played the guitar and some people sang, drank and cooked. We were really allowed to enjoy ourselves in the great outdoors in an appropriate manner. We stayed here for 8 months and I would most definitely stay again!
DO NOT stay here! The park itself was very well planned and beautiful. They have nice big log buildings, a pool, laundry facilities, dog runs and everything else that you would want in an RV park. The administration was an absolute terror to deal with. The ladies in the office were incredibly rude. They walk around the park every 10 minutes looking for someone to harass. You will get NO privacy staying here. We were told that we could not BBQ outside or just hang out outside of the RV. (Isn't that what RV-ing is all about?) The RV spots were really close together. Our slide out was literally 3 inches from another trailer and their slide-out was just as close to ours, almost as if we were interlocked. They claim to be pet friendly, but you are not allowed to have your pet outside for extended periods of time, even if you are outside with them. We travel full time and live in our RV and this was the WORST experience I have ever had! We paid upfront for 2 months and stayed less than a month.
We are not RV-ers we are Pipeliners, so we travel full time living in our RV. We stayed in Battlement Mesa for 8 months. This Park was one of the better parks that we have ever stayed at. It was clean and well kept. The lots were fairly large. The lots are all paved with gravel surrounding, however they did have some large grassy spots in the park and there were a few play grounds within walking distance. The laundry facilities were a bit undesirable (small & unclean). We had to travel to Parachute to find a decent laundr-o-mat. Everything else seemed to be very clean and the lawn was mowed regularly. The parks tenants are mostly long term and it isn't as friendly to overnight users, but they can still be accommodated. The very best thing about this park is that there aren't park employees and managers in everyone's business all the time. It is very private and you can live as you please without being harassed. However if you do have a problem or are creating a problem, it will be taken care of promptly by the city of Battle Mesa. (The city owns the Park).
