This is a neat little park. It is very clean with a very friendly staff. Well, the young park ranger was a little gruff when he came by to remind us that we were 10 minutes past the check out time and still in our spot. Yes, we were running behind, and were almost ready to pull out, he was just doing his job, but...really. ASIDE from that, the park is located along Lake Bruin, a beautiful and clear and clean lake. I would only recommend coming here if you had a boat since there is very little else to do away from the lake, no trails or woods to explore. There is NO POOL, but a small splash park and a nice swimming area along the lake. There are plenty of areas to fish around the park even if you don't have a boat. The water front lots in the front loop are really close together. We camped on the back loop and enjoyed wide shaded lots, so consider that area if you want to stay out of "camper-suburbia." All in all a great little park; beautiful grounds, great play areas for the kids, clean bathhouses. Only thing that would nice is a small camp store on-site for basic supplies since the park is pretty isolated from the nearest town (St. Joseph is about 10 miles away).

We were camping at a nearby campground and went by to see if they had upgraded the bathrooms and bathhouses. We had stayed here in Sept. 2006 and the facilities were AWFUL. It is a very nice campground, pretty setting, but if you had to rely on the bathrooms and showers, you should be prepared for a very unpleasant experience. So we checked in on the place almost two years later, and the showers and bathrooms are still disgusting. Supposedly "new owners" took over last fall and new facilities are in the planning stage, we'll see.

This is our third time staying at this campground, and like the previous two, it was a very pleasant experience. The park is very clean, the pool area and bath houses are kept up very nicely and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The only negative would be the lack of shaded sites and the crushed limestone access roads. Ok, the trees would take a long time to grow, but the roads? They are difficult to walk or ride your bike on, noisy and dusty. This campground would get a "10" if it weren't for the roads.

What an excellent, EXCELLENT state park. The people of Louisiana should be proud. The park and amenities were very well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. It doesn't have a pool but it does have a "water playground." It also has a very impressive nature center with many interactive presentations and displays. Four raised boardwalks allow you to experience the surrounding habitat without getting your feet wet or stepping on the local fauna. A real gem in the Louisiana State Park system.

Is it a mobile home park that wants to be an RV park or vice-versa? Seems like it is a little of both. Anyway, the "new" RV section was very nice and clean with big level concrete pads and wide, tree-shaded sites. They have the best pool I have seen yet for kids, big and wide with a huge shallow end. The park is located very close to US Hwy. 61 but there was surprisingly little road noise. A word of caution, I camped here in a pop-up and have to rely on the bath-houses for showers, etc. And they were atrocious. They were small, dim things that were poorly stocked (no hand soap or paper towels in the restrooms) and were filthy. One other thing, apparently Monday is "pool cleaning" day, even if that Monday happens to be Labor Day; they need an exception for closing the pool on major holidays. All in all, it is a clean and comfortable park with a friendly staff. We will probably camp here again, but it sure would be nice if they updated the bath-houses.

This campground was great! The grounds and facilities were clean and well-maintained. Not much shade, but hey you're at the beach, bring on the sun. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It is located right in the heart of Gulf Shores but it was amazingly quiet and secluded. We were able to walk the three short blocks to the gift stores and the beach on safe and well-lit sidewalks. Only concern is that for the number of sites, it seems like they need at least one more bathhouse; had to wait to get into the shower on occasion. However that small inconvenience will not stop us from camping here again.

Not a bad campground but could easily be a great campground. The positives are big and well-maintained bathhouses, nice big pool and hot tub, really nice clubhouse and camp store. It also has a great view of the river and a smooth, well-lit walkway along the river that goes all the way into the town of Vidalia. Negatives are very few shady sites and the crushed rock roads are loud and dusty. Paving the roads would go a long way in making this a great campground. Will camp here again, just not in the summer, too hot and dusty.

Very friendly staff. Well maintained pool. Bath houses are small but functional. All the roads and sites are dirt. The campground is quiet and seems fairly secure. Lots to see in the surrounding area. Not bad overall for the price.

This campground is ran by the US Forest Service and what a hidden jewel they have in southwest Mississippi. It is located about halfway between Natchez and Brookhaven about five miles south of US Hwy 84. Only one brown Forest Service sign indicates the turn off so you have to keep your eyes peeled. It is a beautiful campground with spacious, well-tended sites. Numerous hiking trails and a clear spring-fed lake make it a wonderful place to bring the kids. The lake has a sandy beach for swimming. Fishing is also allowed as is primitive camping. Would gladly pay an extra few dollars a night if they would upgrade the bathhouses above the apparent "low-bid" government design. Will definitely be camping here again.
