Nice state park relatively clean. This park could easily have gotten a better score. However, beach is extremely small and only chest deep. The west side of the park should only be used for tents only. We were assigned a site here site was barely big enough and road ways are too narrow. The east (lake) side seemed much more accommodating and if we stay here again that were we will stay.
Wow: clean and very spacious. Everything from small tent sites to large shaded, to open sites with a pad. Staff was able to assist with local attractions. The wives enjoyed the on-site wine bar with complementary afternoon tastings. Lot of activities for kids of all ages and free breakfast every morning.
Sites are very, very close together. Staff is difficult to interact with. We traveled as a group they "accidently" put someone between us and would not work around the problem. After dark one individual does laps in a golf cart checking on everyone. After dark they drive by slower, blacked out. The only plus is that they are very close to Gettysburg Battlefield.
Park is on federal land and run by a private contractor. Seems to be well and clean. Easy access for big rigs. But sites are very unlevel, almost every unit we saw had multiple blocks on one side. The other reason for losing points was that the fire ring had to be rented each night, for an additional charge.
Nice place, 3 mile long drit road they are on is a little much. Sites are spacious and they did several upgrades this winter, glad to see money being invested back in. The biggest reason for the 7 is that many of the sites have been regraded with sand. It is very soft and not level, one member of our group needed 4 wheel drive to pull camper out of site.
Great park, we stayed here on the last weekend. It was very quiet and clean. Despite not having waterfront the ocean views are great. A wide variety of site choices, FYI no reservations allowed 1st come 1st get. We will definitely be back.
Great park. Large sites for campers also had smaller tent sites. Entrance road could use some tree trimming lot of low branches <10 ft. Lots of near-by trails and boating on large lake. We will definitely be back.
This park is huge; but also very clean and quiet. Sites could be bigger but not too tight. Campground offers regular shuttle service to Lake George Village and great escapes with lots of daily activities. They could add another pool as it is small and far from some of the sites. This campground would get a higher rating if Wi-Fi was available through out campground (currently only at office) and if they didn't charge for everything.
Great campground, it is a little open for our liking but made it great for the small group we were with. Two pools well sized for the campground and very clean. Owners do regular trash pick-up and staff was pleasant. Centrally located to a lot of white mountain attractions. We will be back.
This park is clean and quiet. Sites were easy to back into even with new 5th, if you stay on right hand side of park. Sites are a little closer together than some of the other Federal Parks we have visited. Lots of hiking nearby, direct connect or short drive. We will definitely be back.
Great place; clean, well layer out. Site are large and many options from full shade to full sun. They are open year round with heated bathroom and coin-op showers. We would stay here again in a heart beat.
Clean and quiet. Stayed here off season and mid week. Some site are close to road but lots of separation. Bathrooms and showers were clean but unheated. Only real down side is the roads are narrow which can make backing into some site a challenge.
Easy to get to on NH16. Large sites with everything from open field to mostly shaded. Park roads are paved and bathrooms have flush toilets but no showers. Park is located at based of Mt. Madison and only a few miles from Pinkham Notch and Mt. Washington auto road.
Clean and well maintained. Lots of activities for kids and close to several amusement parks. The biggest negative was lack of shade; all sites are open and grassy. Some sites are laid out a little strange but easy to make it work.
Campground is average at best. A lot of seasonal sites and roads need some work very rough with lots of golf cart usage. Bathrooms were clean but cramped; free showers were a bonus. Staff was polite and very attentive and friendly.
Nice park, clean and quiet we have driven by many times but this is the first time we stayed. Wide variety of site size but all are very spread out. Park is extremely large and mostly wooded. Firewood is available just down the road at local Fire Department large bin for $5 best deal around.
Great Park, was clean and quiet. Sites are flat and most appear easy to get into. Park is open year round, first come first serve no reservations. Tent sites are walk-ins and there is only about 25 RV sites. Firewood is sold on site. Has easy access to Lincoln, NH and WMNF.
This park is huge, very clean and well maintained. We stayed here off season, which was key to the low rate. Short walk to the beach and a complimentary shuttle to the local attractions. Site are level and easy to get into. The older section is well shaded, while the new big rig sites are very open.
This park is very large but conveniently located only 3 miles from the Gillette. Luckily it was off season so it was nice and quiet. Sites are clean and all covered in gravel some with concrete pads. Park is professionally run and staff was very polite. We used public showers because water was not on yet and bathrooms where well maintained. Also, public rec areas are clean and modern. Only draw back was that they do have restrictions on when you can start your camp fire.
Very clean campground with lots of level wooded sites. Most sites are reasonably private with large fireplaces. The office staff was extremely helpful and polite. Lots of seasonals but most are off too one side of the campground and they were clean with newer trailers. We would absolutely stay here again, just watch out for the sites near the marsh out back.
We didn't actually spend a night despite having a reservation. Sign at office said owners were working in campground and gave phone number. Couldn't find anyone where they said they would be and no one answered the phone number given. There was not a level spot to be seen in entire campground. Lots of trees recently taken down and stumps dug up which were just left. Large piles of sand throughout campground and some sites looked as if you would sink right in. The site we were supposedly given when we made the reservation as "wooded" was actually in an open field. About half the campground consists of seasonals; most of which were very old trailers and not very well kept up. I would advice staying far away. WE DID NOT STAY.
There are lots of seasonal sites, however they are mostly in one area. All are newer and clean. There are about a dozen nicely wooded nightly stay sites as well as an open field. We stayed in wooded section. It is quiet but sites are not very big. Over all it was a positive experience. We recommend early or late in season when not all seasonal site folks are present.
