Our family traveled to Kings Dominion campground so we could visit Kings Dominion amusement park. I was hesitant to book a site since there really is no website to view a site map or photos. But I spoke with a really kind man on the phone and I decided to take a chance. When I booked my site I was informed that it was Kingsfest: a Christian rock weekend. The campground was packed when we arrived. We got a nice flat lot with plenty of room with full hook up. Pool was OK, a little on the cloudy side but it was extremely hot out. Didn't use the showers so I can not comment on their condition. Shuttle bus from the campground to amusement park was great. The first night we were here and the last night of Kingsfest the music was very loud. But after that, the campground was quiet. I would stay again.
Just got home from a wonderful trip here. We traveled with another family and we were able to camp next to each other. Had a great location close to playground, mini golf (fee) and camp store. Was a bit of a walk to the pool. I put my gear in the car and drove to the pool. It must be heated because it was so warm. Had a huge camp site with a fire ring. We could hear the bullfrogs croaking at night. I would give it a 10 but the very clean bathrooms were outdated. I didn't use the showers but my kids complained about having to hold the button to get any water. Loved it so much, I left my camper here to return next weekend.
We arrived on a Wednesday. Check in was easy, and they gave us directions to the site. The site we were in, FS2, seemed to be made over a swampy area. Lots of stone so we sat up high. Site had a picnic table and fire ring and PLENTY of room to move about. Lots of shade trees. The campground was quiet except for the group next to us who were having a lot of fun. They were quiet by 10 PM ( quiet hours ). My kids LOVED the pool. Pool water was slightly cloudy but very warm. Really neat splash pool for the little ones. The big ones enjoyed it too. If you plan to sit by the pool bring a chair and umbrella, as none are provided. I didn't have a chance to use the hot tub located within the pool area. FYI: no life guard on duty. Nice playground. Mini golf for a fee. Large pavilion and rec center with a TV and ping pong (for a fee ). A few games in the game room. Very nice staff. The camp store had tons of stuff to buy souvenier-wise, had camp supplies but not a lot of food, so make sure you bring enough of your own. Lots of seasonal campers that speed through the campground on their golf carts. I would come back again.
We camped here for 3 nights and 4 days. We choose this location because it is very close to Cedar Point. We had a long but narrow site with a full hookup. Wireless internet worked and was free. The kids loved the heated pool although there was no life guard. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I felt the camp store could be better stocked. Breakfast was available on Sunday morning. I would stay there again
My family and I have spent a lot of time camping here. We tent camped for two years and then bought a travel trailer. My favorite spot is shady rest. Unfortunately our 36' camper won't fit in the area but if you have a tent or a pop up you should be fine. Restrooms in this area are new and lovely, you are right by the river and close to the pool yet far enough away from the train (that does run all hours of the day and night) that it didn't bother us. Pool is clean, playground is nice, well stocked camp store, game room. My kids love to bring their bikes and ride around. The free shuttle bus to the park is great.
