We were able to use our Golden Age Pass to get the $10 rate. We camped in loop 1 and there were large sites and we were within walking distance to the water. Lots of paths throughout the park. Great place for biking. Many trees throughout the park. We did not have reservations but arrived early on a Friday morning and got a spot. They seem to fill up on the weekends. Many families here and lots of kids enjoying the outdoors. Pella is a great town to visit; good bakeries and meat markets. Don't miss the Dutch Village. One more tip: we paid for 3 nights but only stayed 2 nights. We were told we would get a refund on our credit card for the night we didn't stay. They can't do that if you pay cash.
This park was one of my favorites. We got site 5 which had a nice shade tree, water, sewer, and 50 amp. Firewood at $2 for a large bundle. Verizon phone and hot spot worked great. Each site is a gravel pad for your RV with a large grassy area complete with picnic table. We camped during the week so we were able to get a nice spot. If coming on a weekend you would need to make a reservation due to many spots were already reserved for the weekend. Town park is right next to the campground and we walked around the park, visited the maze and drove up to Clark Tower. We were able to maneuver our dually truck up the one way road. Town is within walking distance.
I really wanted to stay at this park but was concerned about driving under the tunnel so we decided not go go here. However, we parked at a nearby campground and drove over to this park. Our 5th wheel would not fit under the tunnel to the entrance but there was another entrance however you would need directions to get there. You would also need to drive over a ford so if there was a lot of rain that entrance would probably not work. My suggestion is to call first before coming here. The park was very wooded and looked like there was a lot to do.
We stayed here on Monday and Tuesday nights so there weren't a lot of other campers. We chose a site away from the lake but still had lake views. There is a walking path around the lake and through the campground and all the way into town. Very nice and spacious site. Self check-in. Electric only and no water hook up. It is a few miles away from I-90 and you have to maneuver around a few round-abouts from I-90 but we had no problem.
This is a nice park at a fair price. It is mostly gravel but sites are large and open. Did not use the showers. Camp host was friendly. Good internet connection. Nice vista views to the West. Would definitely stay here again.
This is our second time at this park. It has all utilities including sewer. It is on the top of a small hill and views are nice. It is clean and well lit. There is some traffic going through the grounds because it is in a city park and near a high school. I really love coming here and will come back again if in the area. You must go into town to City Hall to pay for the site. We also went to the "Shiner" beer brewery where the samples are plentiful. Check the web site for brewery tour hours.
This park is about 4 miles south of town and very easy to find. Flat, gravel open area but wide and pull through spots. WiFi is good and all major TV stations with antenna were available. Friendly camp hosts and we were greeted as soon as we pulled in. Nice view of the mountains. Nothing fancy but a nice overnight spot and would stay again.
This park was fine for a night. A lot of oil workers in the area and many stayed at this park. However, there were sites for travelers. WiFi was good and cable was good. Getting to the park was a little problem. Coming from the east we traveled along the North Frontage Road and had to cross a busy street. We stopped around 4:00 and were able to get across the busy street, but any later and there will be lots of traffic. Just make sure you are not traveling to the park during rush hour. I would stay here again if I were in the area, but would try to avoid this area due to the oil field workers.
This park was a pleasant surprise. The price reflects Passport America rate. Great place to spend the night although there were full time people there. Nice camp host. Easy to find and just about 2 miles north of I-30. Would stay here again.
