This campground is set along the Peshtigo River, and has a tubing/canoe rental business as well. The sites are adequate with water and electric hookup at the RV sites, and no hookups at the tent only sites. The restrooms were not well kept--dirty and out of paper most times. The swimming hole is in the river but with muddy banks and rocky bottom. The owners are quite rude and unpleasant. I do not recommend this campground.

We camped here with friends for the Halloween weekend. The staff was very friendly, our sites were large and grassy. The chucker golf was fun for the kids, and the big open area allowed for plenty of room to toss around a football. The kids loved the game room. I only wish it had been a bit warmer because the pool looked beautiful and had a bar right there. Entertainment was fun as well, and season campers were very friendly. Overall, the views are spectacular, and the hiking trails fun too. I would definitely go there again.

Boulder Lake, one of many campgrounds in the Nicolet National Forest, is a true gem. The sites are very spacious and level. The bathroom and shower buildings are new and very clean. This is the only Nicolet National Forest campground with electric sites, but you are allowed to use a generator if you have site without electricty. There are no water hookups, but many places throughout the park to get water. There are several large group sites in a separate area if you have a big group to camp with. There is no playground, but there are hiking and mountain biking trails and a nice beach. There is a boat landing as well, and good fishing on the lake. If you are looking for game rooms and camp stores, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for beautiful natural scenery in a clean, well laid-out campground, this is the place for you.

The sites, while large, had no privacy at all. Our site was very sandy, which made for a mess in the camper. The fire rings were nice and large, but the placement of them was odd-half of the time, they would be around the back side of the camper. Water hookups were also located in an odd location. I thought the price was quite expensive too, and then they charged extra for the little train ride through the campground. Check in was difficult, as they tried to charge my sister for a full site fee when she clearly explained she was just staying with us. The security gate was more of a hassle than a help.

Overall we are not big fans of private campgrounds (as opposed to state or county parks), but Kilby Lake is one we'd return to. The pool and hot tub were nice, and the mini golf course was fun. They had a lot of fun activities for the children. The best part though were the sites. Large open grassy sites, yet with trees and underbrush separating you from your neighbor so you didn't feel you're on top of one another. The staff was very friendly, and escorted us to our site.

This is my very favorite campground. I've camped here in the spring and fall, with plans to go back this summer. If you require full hookups, this or any Wisconsin state park isn't for you. But if you truly like to camp, it doesn't get better than this. hiking and biking trails galore, gorgeous scenery. Swimming, fishing, boating, golfing, and even an outdoor theater in the summer months. Add the fact that it's in Door County which alone is a treasure, and this makes Peninsula our favorite destination.

The sites were spacious, and the park beautiful. There wasn't a lot of privacy between the sites, but for the price, I thought it was an excellent campground and we will return again.
