Very pretty, wooded park. We had one of the few pull-thru sites but it was not great for privacy because of this. Park was very crowded and we found it to be excessively noisy. Did not allow us to stay outside much. We ended up leaving most of the days and seeing the Fort nearby, canoed on the lake and went into Astoria for dinner as well. Great location with lots to do but not a great place to go if you are looking to enjoy some quiet outdoors.
We really enjoyed this park but found the beach access very difficult. You have a long hike in and there are some huge dunes to get over. Not a problem if you are in good shape but we saw many people struggling. Kids loved the dunes and played on them for hours. Winds tend to be fierce in this area so dressing warmly, even in summer, is necessary. Lots of paved bike trails and hiking available. Very pretty park.
Great park. Bathrooms/Showers are heated in the winter, very nice. Short hike to the beach and stargazing at night here is incredible. Sites are even and have a nice tree line between them for some privacy. Lots of things to do and plenty of hiking trails. Very popular park and fills up in summer. Seems impossible to get the sites closest to beach access but not much of a hike from any of the others. Great park for kids and bike riding.
Great Park. We come here every year and book a year in advance for summer spots. It fills up fast and is very difficult to get into in the summer. Bathrooms are nice, clean and easy to access for showers. 2 beaches to explore, one sand and one for shells. One of our top 5 sites to camp. Kids can roam around easily and the huge Fort is a big draw for boys. Great little town nearby and best Fish and Chips can be found there.
Sites are barren and lack privacy of any kind. Sites are not set up correctly to use the electrical and sewer hookups at the same time. Internet service was non-existent and neither hosts nor ranger could tell us anything about the service. Bathrooms were not clean and 3 out of 4 showers did not work properly. Fire pits were too high to sit around. There is absolutely no place to put a tent on any of the RV sites as well as the tent sites except a patch of gravel, no exceptions. No recreation of any kind except hiking, which was done by the second day. Not worth the money or time unless looking for a place to spend the night and move on.
