This is a very well maintained and landscaped campground. Geography at the campground is lightly wooded and level. Roads are gravel, sites are level and large. Most of the transient sites which included ours looked easy to get into. Our site hookups were in good working order. As mentioned on a previous review most of the lake front sites are occupied by seasonals but they do have a beautiful landscaped rock pier that over looks the lake for everyone's enjoyment. One issue was the bathrooms and showers, they were clean but there was no soap dispensers and nothing to dry your hands with. Also, they have a shared changing area for the shower stalls. Very dog friendly campground. Seasonals sites well maintained. Just a great place to relax and enjoy viewing the lake. Owner was professional, friendly and informative and will go out of his way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Don’t forget to stop up the road at McKee’s island pub & pizza, great food and beer. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone.
This is a campground under new ownership. Owners have sunk their hearts into upgrading all of the facilities at the campground. Some of the improvements are the new camp store, upgraded/new bathrooms, rec hall, pool, cottages, pavilion for get togethers and so much more. Geography at campground is mostly open on a slightly graded hill. Our hookups were in good working order. One issue was the C area sites which had little privacy between sites because of the location of the power boxes, my guess the owners will address this issue also. Campfire wood was the driest we have ever seen. Our Wi-Fi was poor, okay signal on our Verizon cell phone. No full hook up sites as of now but campground offers a honey wagon service, dump station is in good working order. Owners were professional, friendly and informative and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone.
This is our yearly return visit to Nickerson Park. They were not able to accommodate us with the site we would have liked but they got us a over sized full hookup site which worked out great. Staff professional and friendly. Geography at campground is level with open and shaded areas. Most sites, especially the non river sites, have enough space where backing in and should not be difficult. One change for this year is the old restroom building in the center of the campground has been replace with a new building. Campground is clean and decently maintained. Owner offers worship service at the rec hall every Sunday. Would certainly return again.
This is a very well maintained and landscaped campground. Staff was professional, friendly and informative. Campground is moderately wooded, good shade and has paved roads. Our full hookups were in good working order. Our campsite was level and had stone put down. Noticed most of the other sites looked the same. Beware of the T-sites if you have a larger RV. Noticed some RV’s having difficulty getting into them with little space left over. Camp store was nicely stocked, campfire wood was expensive by dry. Wi-Fi worked well, good signal on our Verizon cell phone. Nice destination and home base type campground to explore the Lancaster area. Bathrooms and showers are spot on clean, showers have plenty of hooks and a large bench to put your stuff on. Campground is very pet friendly and has two enclosed heated pavilions for get togethers. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Our first time visiting during the off season. Found the campground only 1/3 full, a nice change from the peak summer months. We had no problem with our hookups. Typical beach area camping; place flat with little shade. Camp sites are grid style and on the small side. Bathrooms and showers were just so-so. No Wi-Fi, but good signal on our Verizon cell phone. Campground offers two beaches, kayaking, fishing and only 40 minutes drive to southern ME attractions. At $26 per night we find this campground a good valve. Would return again.
A lot of the full hook up sites were nicely landscaped, graded and level, but that was not the case with ours. To get proper drainage on my full hookups that I had paid for I had to plank up the trailer wheels by 4 inches. Our site was in dire need of much gravel to correct this problem. The electric and water connections were okay. In addition, I noticed a lot of the water/electric only sites were unlevel, no gravel and with bare tree roots showing. Putting the site issues aside the campground was very clean and maintained. Wi-Fi and cell phone worked well. Campground is mostly level with mix of open to lightly wooded areas. Staff was professional, friendly and informative. Wi-Fi and cell phone worked well. Very nice camp store. Campground is very dog friendly with nice centrally located dog park. Some campground noise after quiet hours.
We again enjoyed our stay here at the campground. Our site was large, level with plenty of extra space. No problems with our hookups. Our Verizon signal worked well. Lots of wooded space between sites which gave us privacy. Very quiet at night. The lake at the campground offers kayaking, fishing, and hiking trails that connect to the campground; just a great place to enjoy nature at it’s best. One of our favorite campgrounds in CT.
Campground is moderately to lightly wooded, level on the lower section and more hilly on the upper section. Roads were crushed stone, campground nicely landscaped, maintained and clean. Most of the sites, which included ours had stone put down and looked level. Our site did have a couple of problems, first of which was the power box and water that were located on the wrong side. Second the site was extremely small, even for our 20’ travel trailer and mid size pickup truck. In addition, sites in our area were on the small side, sites numbers in the 30’s and 40’s mostly. Staff was professional, friendly and informative. WiFi and cell phone worked well. This campground is super well run and regardless of the very busy weekend found all the campers/RVers very respectful. Campground is dog friendly also. Would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone, though I would pick a different area of the campground the next time
Campground is level with a mix of open to moderately wooded sites. Our site was average in size given this was a tourist area. Our full hookups were in good working order, and our site was nicely graded and level. Camp store was well stocked. Staff was professional, friendly, and informative. Facilities at the campground looked well maintained, and the landscaping looked good. Poor signal on our Verizon cell phone; Wifi worked well. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone.
This is our yearly return visit to Nickerson Park. Our site was level with no problems with site hookups. Staff was professional and friendly. Geography at campground is level with open and shaded areas. Campground is clean and decently maintained, though I noticed no changes or improvements have been made to the campground the past two years. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Moderately wooded campground, good shade. Place nicely maintained and clean with paved roads and gravel sites. We had no problem with our T-site but noticed some of the larger RV’s having difficulty getting into them with little space left over. There was some noise from the amusement park and highway, but it wasn’t over the top. Our full hookups were in good working order. Staff was professional and friendly. Camp store was decently stocked. Nice destination and home base type campground to explore the Lancaster area. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Campground was heavily wooded and hilly. Staff was professional and friendly. Decently stocked camp store. Noticed campsites, which included ours, could have been better leveled and were in need of grading/gravel. Our site hookups were in good working order. Showers and bathrooms were clean, but shower and changing stalls were too small and needed to be upgraded. Wi-Fi & cell phone worked well. Campground could use a laundry. Too many seasonal sites but they seemed to be in good shape. This campground fits our needs for the area. Would probably return again.
Campground moderately wooded, mostly level. Roads are paved. Older sites especially in the front part of the campground are small and look difficult to get into with the larger RVs. Would recommend the larger deluxe full hook up sites in the back part of the campground. Place was well landscaped and maintained. Staff was professional and friendly. Campground store was small but had all the essentials. Campground has three jacuzzi's, two heated pools, shuffle board and lots of other amenities. Our site was above average in size and mostly level, our hookups were in good working order. Wi-Fi was poor, cell phone worked well. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Typical beach area camping; place flat with little shade. Camp sites are grid style and on the small side. Our site hookups were okay. Noticed place very crowded with lots of extra cars, boats with trailers, tents, and people, but found everyone very respectful. Was here 4 yrs ago and again I had checked off that the bathrooms and showers were clean, but to be honest I’ve seen better. Price per night makes this place a good value, would certainly return again.
This is absolutely a tremendous park. Detailed planning was the first thing that I thought of when I noticed how well landscaped/maintained the place was. Staff professional and friendly. Our site was easy to get into. All roads and sites that I noticed were level and paved. Place lightly to moderately wooded with trees just starting to reach mature height. No problems with our full hookups. Nice catch and release bass pond. Cleanest and best laid out bathrooms and showers that we have encountered so far. The only thing that prevents me from giving this place a 10 was the fright train noise about every two hours during the night. We would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Again enjoyed our stay. Our site was level with no problem with site hookups. Staff professional and friendly. Geography at campground is level with open and shaded areas. Campground is clean and decently maintained, though noticed no changes or improvements have been made to the campground the past few years. Would certainly return again.
We stayed in the S section sites over the Columbus Day Weekend. Our hookups were in good working order and W-Fi was okay at our site. Sites that we noticed in our area were above average in size, level with good space between your camping neighbors. Geography of campground is hilly and heavily wooded, roads are decently graded. Well stocked camp store. Staff professional and friendly. Bathrooms and showers were kept clean but one negative that we found was there was not enough hooks in the bathrooms and no benches to place your clothes which made taking your shower more difficult. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Heavily wooded campground. Large sites, mostly level, with lots of wooded space between sites. Hookups were in good working order. Entrance road to campsites moderately hilly but very manageable. Wonderful camp hosts. Cell phone worked great. Found everyone very respectful, no alcohol policy which ensures no late night parties. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
Very family oriented campground, clean and well maintained. Most sites had decent shade, but a few like ours didn't. Overall most sites seem average in size for a beach area campground. Wi-Fi worked well. Water, electric, cable TV all fine. Staff professional and friendly. Though place was packed with campers the bathrooms and showers were kept very clean. Grocery stores are near by, but with over 250 sites campground should at least have some small resemblance of a camp store. Web advertised heated pool, but it was as cold as the water at Old Orchard Beach. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone.
We did a one night stop over. Our site was easy to get into but most sites appear on small side. Had no problems with entrance road. Campground looked well maintained. Everyone was professional and friendly. No issues with hook-ups.
Well maintained campground, clean bathrooms. Sites seem easy to get into. Water pressure, electric, sewer connection were all okay. Nice lounge and pool area. Staff was professional and friendly. Would have rated campground a 10 but price per night brings it back to a 8
Most sites look to have easy and level access. Water pressure, electric, sewer connection were all okay. Well landscaped/maintained campground. Though all sites are very picturesque, sites in the 60's offer best view of National Park Skyline and good shade.
We were part of a group so rate reflects shared cost. This is a COE campground. Campground is divided into two loops, Both or either loop can be reserved. Campground is located in a gorgeous valley bordered by a river with tubing & fishing possibilities. Steep entrance road but decently graded even after the previous weeks rain. Great place to relax, shaded and open areas, level campground. Campground is dry camping but has flush toilets with hot showers with one electrical outlet in field.
Shade is scarce on the limited transient sites at this campground, seems most of the shaded sites are taken by seasonals. This is a mostly seasonal campground but noticed seasonal sites/campers were well maintained. Geography of campground is mostly level with decently graded roads. Wi-Fi and cell phone was spotty. Our water pressure, power and sewer connection was okay. Sites seemed good size and easy to get into. Some of the bathrooms were dated. Staff was professional and friendly. Campground could use a pool. Overall we enjoyed this campground.
Level campground with mix of open and lightly wooded sites. I would recommend the riverside sites which are large and have privacy hedges. Water pressure, power, cable all fine. Wi-Fi was just Okay. Again found staff friendly and helpful. I do agree with other review that campground would do well for it's self to improve the appearance of the entrance road. Also last year all I had was a garden hose run from a nearby water spigot to rinse my RV sewer hose at the campground dump station but this year I had nothing, campground needs permanent non potable water "at" the dump station. I don't consider these major issues and would certainly return or recommend this campground to anyone
Our favorite campground in Connecticut. Well staffed, everyone professional and friendly. Campground moderately to heavily wooded and hilly. Power, water pressure, electricity and Wi-Fi all fine. I wasn't happy with this year's rate increase but I won't let that affect my review rating. Campground is loaded with amenities, just too much to mention. I really wish this campground would reconsider changing it's pet policy and allow pet walking through the campground, as most resort campgrounds in the northeast do. Though I appreciate the effort with the new dog park, park itself needs to be finished or cleaned out of tree stumps and rocks so pets can exercise freely. Regardless of the pet issues, I would certainly return or recommend this campground to anyone.
Very professional and friendly staff. This has got to be one of the most well run campground I've ever been to. Clean well thought out bathrooms. All the sites that I noticed had cement pads. Water pressure and electricity fine at our site and sites that I noticed were average in size. Campground lightly wooded with decent shade. Very nicely landscaped campground. Spotless laundry room with A/C and TV. Campground has small dog park. Wi-Fi worked good at our site.
Moderately to heavily wooded campground with lots of wooded space between campsites, though sites them self's average in size. No problems with electricity or water pressure but had to run extension cord because power box not located near sewer and water connections. Nice camp store. Staff professional and friendly. All kinds of campers from tenters to mega class A's and everyone was well behaved which is a good reflection of the campgrounds. Zero tolerance alcohol policy. Very cool state run water park within walling distance of the campground. Bathrooms needed to be cleaned more frequently.
Lots of sun at this campground, no trees but that's the geography of the area. Showers and bathrooms were kept clean. The staff was professional and friendly. We had no problems with water pressure or electricity. The cement pads and sites were decent. Wi-Fi signal was very slow at our sight. Office/store hours: open late. Well kept indoor and outdoor pools, plus a nice lounge area!
We absolutely loved this well organized campground. Just to many amenities to mention. Most of the campsites that I saw (including ours) were average in size and looked well graded. Campground runs 80 to 100 # water pressure so make sure you have a inlet water reducing valve on your camper. As mentioned on previous reviews campground is super staffed. Absolutely huge dog park with lots of pet amenities. Campground has over 1000 sites and considering the amount of dogs we saw I was pleasantly surprised to see no unpicked up dog waste. Campground IMO seems to attract a lot of responsible pet owners. Wi-Fi was just OK at our site and our cell phone worked great. The only disappointment we found was the hot food served there was not very good.
Our second visit to this campground. Most of the campsites were large and wooded. Above average amenities. Well graded roads. Nice pool area, huge campground store. Knowledgeable staff. Just a top notch camping resort
This is a basic campground. Campground offers fishing on the Natchaug River, hiking and tubing on the river in the warmer weather. Found staff helpful and friendly, seasonals friendly also. Most of the seasonal sites (though not all) were well maintained. Campground needs a camp store but Super Wal-Mart 10 minutes away. Overall I would recommend this campground.
In my opinion one of the best resort style campgrounds that CT has to offer. Some of the amenities that stand out are the heated pool with hot tub, beach side grill and professionally done mini golf. Wi-fi worked great. Staff older, friendly, and experienced. You are escorted right to your site. The only two draw backs I can say about this campground is the highway noise on the entrance side of the campground; and you have to keep your pets at your campsite.
Pretty country style campground that is well maintained. Transit sites seem easily accessible. Campground offers hiking, fishing and a short drive to Jay Peak. Seasonal sites seemed well maintained. Bathrooms kept very clean. Owners friendly and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Nice office/pavilion and shuffle board. Campground has small pool and playground. Grocery stores are a short drive away. I thought the campground rates were a good value.
Decently run campground, staff experienced and helpful. Campground has a mix of wooded and open sites. Enjoyed the overall appearance of the campground. Noticed all the seasonal sites/campers were well maintained and the seasonals were the friendliest people I've ever encountered. Our campsite # B28 was a major disappointment. Our gray water and electric was located on the wrong side of the site. No small wonder why, two huge trees they would have to cut down to fix the situation. So I had to pull in forward and back out when I left with very little clearance between these trees and because of this we were in plane site of our camping neighbors which left us no privacy. Still though we enjoyed this campground.
This is a great campground for the beach or fishing. One small disappointment was that we were expecting to be able to boogie board at the beach but life guards wouldn't allow it. We had to walk about five minutes to get off the state beach property to go boogie boarding. Found staff friendly and seemed to be experienced. There was not much going on in the Salisbury area as for things to do, but it was a short drive to NH and ME attractions. It was very pet friendly with lots of dog stations through out the campground. Campground store was decently stocked, but everything in the store was way over priced. I had checked off that the bathrooms and showers were clean, but to be honest I've seen better. Also had our cooler stolen the first night we were there, which I found later.
Gorgeous campground with lots of character. Our campsite and the ones that we saw were large and mostly wooded. Roads were well graveled with no potholes. The bathrooms were spotless and the campground has above average amenities. Even though it was May we though the campground store closed a little to early for the weekend. We would certainly return to Danforth Bay if we have the chance.
Pretty little campground thats nicely landscaped, bordered between hills, farmland with a river running next to the campground. We found the staff helpful and friendly. Sites were a little on the small side. Decently stocked campground store. Good place to spend the weekend or nice stop over before heading to your next destination.
Well maintained/organized campground thats loaded with amenities. Staff friendly and helpful. Most campground sites were a one to two minute walk to the beach. Huge/well stocked campground store. RV sites seem to be above average in size. Campground great for pets. Some of the things we had a problem with was the first night we were there we had our cooler broken into along with the campsite next to us. The hot water kept running out in the two bathhouses closes to us and the teenagers driving the golf carts were out of control, especially at night.
We found the campground very commercial like. Main parking lot inside campground not centralized to campground store/rec hall/food court/pool area which made doing things very inconvenient. Most of the privately owned park models were well landscaped and maintained but most of the transit sites that we saw were plain dirt with no grass and very unappealing. Our site was also very dusty with no grass at all. We found the staff friendly. Plenty of activities for the family. Rest rooms and showers were clean. We were disappointed in the pet play area that you had to drive to. It was just to small for our dog to get any real exercise, and you could not walk your dog anywhere at the campground.
This was our second visit to this campground. Our first was in 2000. This place has everything. You could easily spend a week here and not be bored. But if you choose to leave the campground within 15 minutes drive there's amusement and water parks, white river rafting just about everything under the sun in the area. The only problem we see with this campground is it's gotten to big for the two pools it has. They need to expand on their pool Area.
Huge campground resort with activities for the the kids. Great pool area with four hot tubs. Campground restaurant has lobster and seafood specials. This is our second visit to Bayley's and they just opened a new entrance road that has access to most of the campground along with the new big rig section in back of the campground. Still very busy around the pool area. I wouldn't camp here if your looking for quiet nature. Lots and lots of kids. Bathrooms were clean. Even though they say they sprayed for bugs its still very buggy around the pond areas.
The web site for this campground call its self a resort campground. I've never been to a resort campground that doesn't have a fixed dump station. When I inquired about the dump station when I was making reservations I didn't get a straight answer. The bathrooms were clean but poorly laid out. The shower stalls had no hooks and there was no separate changing stalls. Only a community bench in the middle of the bathroom. Campground fire wood that they delivered to our site was not cut into small enough pieces and so green that it wouldn't burn at all. The lake was average. The beach was nice. We found everybody very friendly. I asked them to cut a stump down so I could get my trailer out and they did.
Gorgeous state campground to top of hill. Large wooded sites. Great trails for hiking and ponds for fishing. If your looking for a relaxing camping trip with quiet nature all around you then this is the place. Campground has a well laid out dump and water fill station, small campground store. At the entrance of the campground which is at the bottom of the hill is a large pool with a water slide and jumping board. Also they serve hot food at the pool area. Local sheriff makes routine patrols thru campground.
Close to Niagara Falls. About ten minute ride. This is a basic home base type campground. We found the campground clean. They have a great pet area in back. Sites are narrow but long. Good overall shade in campground.
