This is a very pretty campground. The only reason I gave it the rating I did was because I was only here briefly for one night and could not take advantage of the facilities and activities. The campground is clean and well maintained with level gravel sites and patio areas. I was in a pull-through, it was easily accessible and I did not have to unhook my tow vehicle. It is only 2-3 miles from the interstate which means it is quiet but convenient. There is a heated pool and there are 2 fishing ponds a playground. The host was very pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely come again.
The family owners are very friendly and helpful. The roads in the back part of the campground are very narrow and hard to maneuver my 40' coach. I was assigned a site back there rather than one of the easier larger sites in the front. I recommend anyone with a big rig to request one of those sites. Other than that, it's a pleasant campground and an easy ride from and to the interstate.
I stayed here for a week (I got the weekly rate with the over 62 discount) so I could explore Savannah and Tybee Island. The campground is very wooded as you would expect in a state park, but it was well laid out. Water, electric and cable TV (which was a nice perk) is provided. The sites are half circle pull-thrus that took a bit of maneuvering with my 40' motorhome but are certainly accessible. Sites are not assigned so you just drive around until you find an unoccupied one that you like. Park rangers/employees are helpful and friendly.
The people in the office are very pleasant and the sites are shady but this campground has mostly permanent residences. The roads are in need of repair and the sites are very narrow. The picnic table at my site was broken but I wouldn't use it anyway since it was right next to the sewer connection for the next site. I was here for only a couple of nights and those sites provided are very close to the local road which has a constant stream of traffic all night long. For overnighting it is sufficient and very close to I-10.
This park advertises for big rigs and it can take them but it's a tight fit. The campground itself has mostly permanent residents that do not seem to care how their sites look. A lot of junk and rusting 'stuff' laying around. They advertise some sites are 'cable ready' but you have to pay to have the cable hook-up with the local company. The site I was on was dirt that looked like monster moles was running through it. I would not stay here again.
Excellent campground within a very reasonable distance from the city of Charleston. Friendly owners and staff. Sites are a good size with both pull-thrus and back-ins. This is a Good Sam park so there is a discount. Good park for exploring the beauty and history of the area.
This is a very clean, well maintained campground located right on the Mississippi River. It is attached to Casino Aztar which is great if you like to gamble. It has a laundry on site and there is frequent security patrols through the campground and is well lit at night. The downside is the lack of good restaurants and good supermarkets. Recommend that you bring groceries with you if an extended stay. I would stay here again if in the area.
