Remembering this is the desert, the sites are sandy, not level- which makes it harder to level. As said before, you are told to find a spot and then report back to the office which is a good idea. The reason for being stingy with a better rating is the lack of level sites and we could NEVER sign-on to their WiFi. Pretty expensive for being that far off the path and nothing around to see...The staff were very friendly which always helps make an iffy stay better! In all honesty we didn't go into their waterfall/swim area because of our pet. That might have made a difference in our view.
The sites are very close as mentioned before; very little shade; in 5% of the sites have LARGE rock which is hard on dog's paws. We were one of the 5% also that had no picnic table even after repeated requests. Office help appears to be responsive but ultimately don't do anything. If you're not crazy about personal aircraft flying overhead at all hours, you might want to look for another resort. Did laundry and my towels didn't spin dry AT ALL! We spent $$$ drying them. No notes to let folks know and for that many sites, it's a VERY small laundry facility. BTW Wi-Fi is only available - you pay! Not much for the money you pay!
If you want to go to a beautifully landscaped, yet natural setting and feel your every need will be addressed by the camp hosts - this is the place for you! We stayed here for 3 nights in a 36 foot motorhome with 2 dogs and kids. First they get you settled into your site even assisting in hookups if you need it. Then if you need firewood, they are right on it and bring it to your site! The store has many eye-catching souvenirs and you couldn't find a better group of folks to make you feel welcome. The security was top notch, you knew they were there, but not in the least intrusive. I felt like we were at a 5 star resort! For those of you who like to eat, they have a nightly ice cream social for $1 and a pancake and sausage breakfast for $3.50! Would love to have seen inside the log cabins available - there were families everywhere having fun - swimming, playing foosball, or renting one of the bikes - they have it all. Thanks for a great vacation!
We and another couple made reservations a couple of months in advance to stay at Josephine Schroeder County Park requesting sites to accommodate 36' motorhomes. When we pulled in after 7 hours on the road we were told our RV's were probably too big for the reserved sites and that there were no other sites. We went ahead and were able to easily park. The other couple's electric went out and they had to use another site's electric even though we had informed the host. None of the other sites were ever used and on the day BEFORE we were to leave, we found out a group that annually stays here was coming in. Some of the group came a day early and informed us - and guess what? That electric was fixed the morning we left! We've never felt less welcome. Certainly won't return unless they get a new host!
What a wonderful RV resort! Beautiful grounds, spacious sites, fantastic views! We stayed in our 36' class A for a week. Can't say enough about how wonderful it was to stay somewhere where everything is neat, cable and WIFI work without a hitch, sites are beautifully manicured, and you can walk to see the marina, bay or a distant view of the ocean! The bonus is that there are activities to do within a half hour's drive! Will definitely return!
Loon lake itself is a beautiful lake, but getting to it is a bit tricky if you're new at driving a large RV. The two lane windy road is very narrow in some places. The RV park is on the rustic side for the price. We were in a 36' motorhome and found pull thru spot#9 was long enough but had some type of underground access outside our front door, so we had to place the table over it to keep folks from tripping. Unfortunately, maybe due to the rain, it was dusty and the logging trucks kicked up the dust as did the people launching their boats. Although it says cable is included, our new rig only got a grainy picture and we had no cell service at all. They have a nice little marina with lake rentals - but when we went down to rent something at 1:30 p.m. there was no one at the store and no note. Consequently, we cut the rest of our stay short and went to another resort. The managers are very nice and hopefully will be able to fix these little issues so people will be able to enjoy this beautiful lake.
Parked in a pull-thru with a wonderful view of the river. Very nice park with nice garden/grass areas for each site. The pool was clean and clear; and the hosts provided freshly baked cookies each day. Bathrooms were very clean and the service was impeccable. Shopping within walking distance. Would stay again!
