We loved this park. The host in the Sycamore Loop was just fantastic. I arrived on my own with baby and 4 dogs and she offered to help guide me in and waited until I had time to set up before going through the paperwork. The other campers were similarly friendly and outgoing. It's definitely a place for those who fish and like the outdoors, bring your boat! The showers were very clean, the water temp was fabulous, the pressure was very good, and the shower heads were nice and high so there was no need to stoop to wash hair! We liked the Sycamore Loop the best, not only is it closer to the water, but the sites also seemed more spacious and shady. The only negative thing about our trip is that we didn't have enough time to explore all of the trails that the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest has to offer. We'll definitely be going back. We camped on a holiday weekend and it was VERY busy. Reservations a definite must.

The amenities are pretty slim so I wouldn't have normally given this campground a second chance BUT, they were the only ones with water that hadn't been turned off for the winter. The host & hostess are very nice people and the bathrooms & shower were clean and HEATED. It might be different in the summer - one shower for each gender when the park is more full might = a lot of waiting for shower time. Not a good value if you are going to tent camp. All spaces are back in and the road is dirt.

Gorgeous park. We were here in early fall, with the first snow of the season. The park was pretty deserted, but I would imagine that it is packed in the summer. We were somewhat disappointed by the lack of water/sewer but there are bathrooms close by. We camped in Loop D. The bathrooms close to Loops B & A are MUCH nicer (and heated in the winter, which it took us 2 days to figure out. burrrr!). Friendly staff, lovely setting, trails and outdoor activities galore.

We loved this park, although it was a bit more expensive than we would have liked. It was exceptionally well cared-for, right on the water, and not too big. Bathrooms were large and squeaky clean.

Nice facility, although absolutely no trees at all and no break from wind. We actually had to pull in our slideout because the wind was so strong on several nights. The bathrooms were fantastic and there is a nice outdoor fireplace area. At night, the road noise seemed very loud.

Good place to stop if you are just there for one night. A fair amount of road noise and not much scenery. The person who met us at the office was very friendly. The roads were a bit scary - deeply rutted and mucky after recent rain. The bathrooms were great, though!

We loved this park - a lot of great sites very close to the water (although the lake level was very low!). Friendly staff. Be careful when coming up on the place - we whipped right by the entrance and turning around is no picnic in this area! We will definitely return here.

Huge space with lots of permanent trailers. It might be nice in the summer, but it was a bit bizarre in the fall. No water in the pool! Roads were definitely scary on the way out - the potholes and wet ground made us glad we were overpowered as we slowly ground our way up the last incline before leaving. Can't believe it got such a good write up in the last review.
