This KOA is adjacent to a spa/resort, so it shares some of the amenities such as a very good--not great--restaurant, and a well-stocked store. The grounds are serene, grassy, flat, well maintained, and sites in the first loop are quite large. They do allow dogs, but environmental restrictions caused by an endangered bird specie (snowy plover) nesting areas severely restrict dog access both inside and outside the park, along trails and on the beaches for miles north and south.

This CA State Park is a gem on a large bluff overlooking the Pacific. We dry camped here. The site was huge, grass covered, tree lined, and had an almost level double wide paved pad. Easy access to the beach, beautiful views up and down the coast. Flat sandy beach. The restrooms are pretty new and they have a dump station that can accommodate four vehicles. Maximum RV length is 36 feet.

We were with a group of Airstream owners. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The site we had was grassy, large, and flat. Other sites nearby were nicely separated. Virtually all the sites were grass covered, and had been mowed. Interior gravel roads were in good condition; in fact, the whole campground was clean and well maintained. There are two dump stations.

Very pleasant campground, large, flat grassy sites with paved parking for two vehicles at each. Convenient to San Francisco Bay Area. Most sites have view of water over a berm. There's about 4 miles of flat beach that comprises the State Beach in total. Walking/biking trails. Dogs allowed on some beaches; check with campground personnel. Very quiet with a wide greenbelt separating campground from residential area. Bring binoculars to catch a glimpse Mavericks giant waves if they're breaking offshore in the distance.

This campground is a gem! Like no other I've ever stayed at. I believe they allow reservation for only 1/2 the sites, the rest are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It's worth planning your trip to arrive here in the morning as some are packing up to leave. Host very helpful. The "beach" is accessible by trail, but very rocky. Not suitable for swimming. Trail head for Ventana wilderness is across highway.
