We paid a lower than normal rate because we were here as part of an RV rally. The park and staff deserve a 10, but they have a problem with their Wi-Fi, they know it but can't or won't fix it! The sites are spacious and clean, with easy access to the lake, club house, etc. via paved paths. The grounds, laundry, club house, and pool were all spotless. Just minutes to North Myrtle Beach on good roads.

Good place to overnight. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi worked well and the utility hook ups were conveniently located. A bit on the trashy side, in that the campground was in need of weed pulling and trimming. We felt safe spending the night there. Also, there is a small truck stop near the entrance for refueling with diesel or gas if needed.

Good overnight stop. Clean and fresh. Nice long and flat pull through sites. Friendly people. Far enough off the road to be quiet and feel safe. Pet friendly campground, almost everyone we met had a dog and the owner passes out treats.

Very nice campground. Well run, well maintained facility, and extremely clean. They are currently redoing some of the campsites making the entrances wider, pouring concrete curbs for the campsites and putting in new crushed limestone parking surfaces. Many sites are lake front and most have a view of the lake. The only drawback to this campground is the road leading to the campground. It is narrow and in some places rough. While we were there we were told that the road was to be redone this summer.

This is a large state park on Lake Shelbyville. Since it was so late in the year they had closed parts of the camp ground. The area we were in was electric only with a mix of gravel and paved pads, as well as a mix of 30 and 50 amp sites All the roads are paved and in good shape. Most of the sites were well spaced and almost level with some areas fully shaded and other areas of little or no shade. The shower house was still open. While it is an older shower house it is well maintained and clean with lots of hot water. Lots of deer and birds in this park.

Scenic location. Full hook ups, but the sewer pipe was too tall to be usable. Campground was full so we were unable to relocate. This campground is not very well maintained. The roads are rough and narrow, with cars and trucks partially on the roadway. The employees are friendly and helpful. There is a well stocked camp store. At the restaurant the food was mediocre and the service poor.

This is the best park/campground we have ever been too! Clean and well maintained. Sites are paved, big, and level. Sites are separated by trees and bushes. All sites have well located full hookup and 50 amp. Everyone we meet was friendly. All roads are paved with plenty of room to maneuver.

Well shaded big level sites. Friendly helpfully people. They have a reenactment at the Fort every Oct. We arrived the night the reenactment was breaking up making it hard to get in the campground. If you can avoid the reenactment weekend or arrive well before the reenactment, this is a nice park. We rated this way because there are only 5 50amp sites.

Big commercial campground. Clean and well run by friendly people. Would have given it a higher rating but when we were there they were struggling to get the cable TV working and the wi-fi was extremely slow. Mostly pull through sites.

Great place! Well spaced sites with lots of trees. Sites are paved with adjoining areas covered with fine gravel. Extremely clean with crews blowing the leaves off the sites and raking the fine gavel areas. Friendly hosts. This campground is located very near to The Hermitage. Would have been a 10 if they had wi-fi!

This an older park with an new bridge at its campground entrance. This is NOT A BIG RIG PARK. The bridge is narrow with low weight limits. Trees are low and roads are narrow. This is a fantastic park for small travel trailers and pop-ups, with lots of trees in a natural setting. The web site for the park mentions the bridge but does not mention the width or weight restrictions. Great area for nature lovers. Did not accept Golden Access Pass as Tenn did in the past.

This is a small RV park in town. Not the kind of place to make as a destination but if you have business to do in Murray it is a good location. Also, it is very near to Murry State University. There are no frills, just a gravel lot that is overgrown with grass, but has full hookups. The campground is in a residential area and is bordered on one side by a landscaping company.

Nice shady state park. Lots of well mowed grass in the center of the park with a heavily wooded area surrounding the park. Sites are paved, with some sites having a paved parking area. On the negative side: there is only 30 amp electric at the sites. From the camp you can hear the barge and ferry traffic on the river. It is an easy drive to Garden of the Gods or other scenic areas.

This campground has two loops. The front loop is 50 amp and has a handfull of reservable sites: most are level and secluded. The back loop is mostly 30amp. All sites are electric only. During the week this park is so quiet that the owls will wake you during the night. Best sites for bigger rigs are on the front loop on the opposite side from the reservable sites. Entry roads are paved but narrow. Dump station and showers are clean and well maintained. The sites are gravel with picnic table, light stand, and fire ring. Like most Illinois State Parks: there are no alcholic drinks permitted. Cell phone reception is very limited: without a booster we had no signal, with a cell signal booster we got three bars.

This is for us a great overnight stop off I-57. We've used it twice now. The owners are friendly and accommodating. It is very easy off and on interstate with pull-thgough sites. It is well lighted for walking dogs and open all year. It is very clean - only one year old. We have gone to nearby national award-winning 17th Street Bar and Grill both times we stayed -- awesome BBQ ribs and brisket.

A beautiful park. A few platforms are long enough and flat enough for our 38' motorhome. We placed ours on an angle. It was a unique way to hang out over the lake and trees. The shower house was clean, and warm with plenty of hot water and water pressure. There is very good food at Park's Marina Galley restaurant. There are beautiful vista views from visitor's center. Be careful to check wooden platform for nails before parking since tenters often use nails to hold down tents. Great price since it accepts 'America the Beautiful Access Pass'. It is open all year -- we shared entire campground with only one other motorhome.

Only reason this is not 'perfect 10' is no water/sewer. Otherwise this is one of our favorite campgrounds, especially since it stays open until the end of November when most nearby state and Corps of Engineers (COE) campgrounds are closed. We have used it only for easy one night stopovers along I-57. It is easily accessible from the interstate. We intend to come back and stay longer to enjoy the beautiful lakeside sites. Rate is based on them being COE which means they accept America the Beautiful Access Pass.

Nice place, nice people. Don't use their water--it smells and tastes bad. Is really nice place for overnighting if you don't use the water. Would be nice place for longer stays if they get the water fixed. With good water they would rate 8 or 9.

Nice state park with beautiful lake and good restaurant. A limited number of sites for bigger rigs and a limited number of 50 amp sites. Sites are well shaded with helpful host and workers. Entrance roads are paved and in good shape. Campground roads are narrow and tree lined. Because of this, you should drive you towed vehicle through the campground before you drive your rig in as there are some places you may not want to drive a larger motorhome. If more sites had 50 amp I'd have given the park a higher rating.

Large spacious sites under mature trees. Friendly hosts and friendly campers. Camped here in a 40ft motorhome and had several sites to choose from. Most sites are graveled and level with picnic table and fire pit. Good fishing lake as part of the park. New dump station.

Nice place. Many clubs like to stay here because they have buildings that they can gather in. Staff is extremely helpful. Sites are plenty big for large rigs and the sites I saw were pull through. The front of the campground is a little cramped but the further back into the campground there is more space. The area around the campground is heavily wooded giving the campground a secluded feel.

Stayed here in early December. The front area has pull through sites and is level. Only a few sites have 50 amp service. Lots of trees. There are trails to take you to the giant city stones and to a prehistoric wall. Lots of places to go wine tasting in the area.

We were very pleased with this park. When we called they had no full hookup sites available but when we got there they had upgraded us to a full hookup site. The pull-through sites are asphalt, very large, clean, and level. The park is only about 8-10 miles from Little River Canyon which had some of the most awesome autumn foliage and scenery we've experienced. If you don't feel like cooking every meal, there's a lodge that has both buffet and a full-service menu, with good food at reasonable prices. I would have liked to have stayed longer than 3 nights in order to have taken in more of the local sites and the numerous hiking trails. I'm sure this would also be a great place to visit in the spring when there has been more rain to feed the many nearby waterfalls and when the azaleas that are numerous in the area are in bloom. If you have a big rig, and are coming in from the north, you might consider NOT taking exit 213 off of I-59 but waiting to exit 222 and coming in through Fort Payne. The exit 213 route is a lot of narrow winding road through mountainous terrain. We would have rated this park a 10 except for two things. We think they should allow you to reserve specific campsites instead of just a certain type so that we can have less worry that we won't have the length or level site that our big rig requires. Second, the signs off of interstate I-59 and even some places in the park need to be updated as, due to age, they are missing arrows or are hard to read. We will definitely make a point to find our way back to this park!

We were here in chilly November and still liked the park and area. It is not fancy. There are lots of trees and deer. The Ferne Clyffe and the trail that takes you to them is a must see! Most sites were level, tree covered, with 30 amp service. We camped in a 40 foot motor home.

Perfect for an overnight stop in mid-Illinois. Just off the interstate on I-55. Sites are long so you can pull in and leave toad attached. Park is clean, quiet, and Trish, the owner, has been very friendly and hosptable both times we've used this park for an overnight. Cingular, Sprint service and antennae access to analog and HDTV good.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Alabama. We loved having a large pull-thru site. The playground for the dogs was a great advantage. 'Cock of the Walk' restaurant next door was very good and Camping World is right next door to that. We would have rated it higher except we don't see why someone would pay $20 more a night for this campground compared to Two Rivers which is just a block or two down the road, unless perhaps pull-thru sites and a playground for the dogs is worth that much to someone. Even the coffee was expensive here since my husband at first thought it was free and then after pouring 2 cups for us found out he was paying $1.49 for a small cup. This time we had a coupon for a free night at KOA so it was definitely worth it, but if we didn't have that coupon we would have stayed elsewhere.

I called to ask if they had sites big enough for a 40 foot motor home and they assured me that they did. When we arrived, I began to have my doubts. Luckily, I did not pull into any of the lower campgrounds and stayed on the main loop or I would have had to back out. After talking to the ladies in the offices they again told me that "big rigs park here all the time". What they recommended was to park on one of the camp sites on the main loop with the front jacks in one campsite and the back jacks in the next campsite. It is a nice clean park right on the lake. Would be great place for small units that can handle tight turns and short camp sites.

New park. Nice roads, good level sites with lots of space. Too new to have trees, so there is no shade. Has very nice play ground for kids. Lots of places to ride bicycles. Is close to Purdue University. Friendly people! Big rig friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed in site ten under a big cottonwood tree. From our "backyard" you could see the barges move up and down the river. Also, there where train tracks with maybe a train or two a day going by. The park has trails and overlooks. Our site was level and next to the nicest campground hosts that we have ever meet.

We camp here in the fall while attending Eastern Illinois football games. We like this park. It is state park so it is on the rustic side. Sites are gravel, with table and fire ring. Most sites are well shaded with plenty of trees separating campsites. People here are friendly and nice. There are a limited number of sites for big rigs, and no 50 amp hook-ups.

This park is near downtown St. Louis. We were here to attend a wedding and took cabs for the short ride downtown. Park is all asphalt and they ask that you walk your dogs outside the park where there is grass by the side walk. Nice clean park with friendly people. Good park for seeing the sites in St. Louis or for attending a ball game.

We like this park and camp here often. There are only a few 50 Amp sites, and no full hook-up sites. Showers are nice, Restrooms are non flush type but are usually clean. Lots of birds and wildlife. Lots of trees and shaded sites. Nice spring feed lake, with row boat rental. No power boats allowed. This is an older park therefore most of the sites are smaller but there are sites that will accommodate bigger units.

Got there on Friday evening and left early Sunday morning. They put us in the pull through sites in the front area of the park. That part of the park looked to be for overnighters. Sites were narrow and not level. Back of park look more spacious. Has driving range by the entrance with golf course and park across the road.

All gravel. Gravel drive, gravel site. Only grass to be found was around the lake. Nice lake, clean buildings, and well maintained. Sites too narrow to have a camp fire. We spent four nights here. There were much nicer sites that seemed to be full of regular customers. There is swimming area on far side of lake. Would have given a higher rating if we weren't so cramped.

Stayed here with a group. Staff was friendly and helpful. Roads were dirt and gravel. Camped on grass field with 30 amp hook up. Big shade trees and lots of space. River nearby for floating or fishing. Owners are young and trying improve the campground. We will return. Camped in a 40 foot motor home.

Great park! You need reservations. This place is busy during the summer and is full. If you have big rig stay in campground one. It has been rebuilt and opens for 2008. Usually the men go fly fishing while the ladies and kids go swimming. If you don't have big rig, the other campgrounds are nice too, but are not as level. Staff is friendly, restrooms and showers are clean. I would have given it a ten except it was very dry and dusty due to the dry weather.

This is Corps of Engineers recreation area. Only part of the campground was open when we were here in early April. Only has a few full hook up sites. Sites were large with table and fire ring. Due to bad weather we did not see much of the rest of the campground, but what we did was clean and spacious. Camped in a 40 foot motor home.

This is Corp of Engineer's park. This campground is large and spread out with plenty of room. Very well taken care of with clean everything. Most sites are plenty long, but many sites have too much slope for motorhome. Large playground for kids. On Holiday weekends you will need reservations. Big lake for fishing if you have a boat.

This park is just off I-44 so there is highway noise. It is a nice park, with very friendly and helpful staff. It has level gravel pull through sites with table and fire ring. This park can feel cramped when it is full. The sites we have been in have been shaded. Based on our 40 footer, big rigs can easily get around in this park.
