I have reviewed this campground before and as so many have posted, gave it great scores. We have camped at Willow Tree every year for the past four years. But that's probably coming to an end. Willow Tree used to be such a fun campground for the whole family to enjoy. Beautiful campground with fun things to do which help keep you from remembering you don't get the ocean. But that all seems to be fading away. Gone are the hay rides. Was told the Halloween activities this year will not happen. In the game room appears to be the same equipment that was there four years, only worn out. Nothing seems to have improved in four years. But most everything appears to be getting worn out. Its still a wonderful resort campground and quite beautiful. But if you are a family looking for a fun stay, you might want to go to the beach or Tabor City. Willow Tree appears to becoming the place for snow birds and those looking for a quiet stay. That's fine for some but if you take the whole family, its starting to get a little old and boring.

I wish I could give this park more than a seven but I can't. Crosswinds is a great state park campground and we'd recommend it. But I guess the state's budget woes are starting to show. That was our only complaint for the entire July 4th weekend. The beach at the lake has eroded badly and in many sites, the trees need a big haircut. To back our 40' toy hauler in, several limbs had to scrape down the sides and roof more than what makes me comfortable. It just needs to be tidied up some to get back to at least a nine. The park rangers were great and the crowd stayed pretty well-mannered.

For a state park, it's certainly fine. Nice, quiet, heavily wooded sites and the park rangers are quite friendly. We've stayed here multiple times since it's so close to home. For Raleigh area residents, it's a nice, quiet getaway. The bathhouses are getting better but again, it's just a state park. Don't over expect. Unfortunately, Falls Lake has problems with water quality for swimming; especially during the early summer months.

Nice park for the scenery and quietness. It was a bit overpriced for what you get but you're still camping on Carowinds property. Staff was quite friendly. Bathhouse left you feeling dirty after you finished your shower. For a campground that advertises all the money they spent getting it up-to-date, they sure forgot to do something with the bathhouse. We'd camp here again but only to attend Carowinds.

This park is well deserving of it's high praises. Extremely clean and lots of space between sites. Their bathhouse is as nice as I've ever seen with private bathrooms. The pool is wonderful and the lake swimming was even better. They offer plenty of activities for the kids but if you'd rather just relax, there's plenty of room.
