As others have said, most of the campground is permanent sites and we found that most were in decent shape. The non-permanent sites were very small, can you say packed like sardines? Our awning was only a few feet from the slideout of the camper next to us. The constant traffic from golf carts and pedal cars was extremely annoying and their speeds and driver ages didn't appear to be monitored. The permanent sites at Q4 and Q5 have installed their own halogen streetlight on a 10 foot pole which they turn on at sunset and were not receptive to conversations asking to turn it off since it lit all adjacent sites like daytime. The office was not much help with this issue either. We do not recommend this campground.
I would have given 10 on the rating but the sites are very close together. The site we were in was well shaded and level though the sewer connection was just about in the site next to us. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable about the area. The campground is located very close to the battlefield and town. Wi-Fi working fine, a little slow at times but tolerable.
Well maintained grounds and just a short stroll to the beach. The old section (north) of the park is closed and being refurbished due to reopen later this year. The park is wide open, no trees or bushes of any kind to protect from the sun and wind. Pads are all concrete and very level. Don't expect to sleep in during the week as the troops march by starting at about 6:30am. The sites are right on Regulus Avenue which has high traffic volume during the week.
Being right on the water caused this campground to flood recently and when we arrived, the staff told us they put someone else in our reserved spot. It would have been nice if the staff had called and told us before we arrive. We were given the choice of two other spots and after checking both out, selected the muddy site over the one with the yappy dog. The sites are super close together. When our awning was open, it was only a few feet from the side of the next camper. Our view of the next campsite was of an unused sewer hose on the ground and who knows what was leaking from the black/gray drain. We were not impressed with the maintenance of the grounds. There were dog droppings in the grass along the roads and in the dog run area. The store is small and for the most part, the shelves and cooler were bare.
Was met at the gate by a nice lady who gave us a quick rundown of some of the rules, then was led by a staff member in a golf cart right to our site. The store was well stocked and the again, the staff was outstanding. Lots of activities for the children all weekend. Many of the sites are not level so make sure you've got lots of wood but if not, the staff said they have plenty if you need more. As others have said, the shooting at the rifle range next door can get a bit unnerving, our dog was not fond of the shooting at all and the proximity to the turnpike keeps the noise level a bit high but not annoying.
