We like the State facilities because of the price and usually situated on some prime real estate. If you like the ocean, can't beat this place for convenience. In spite of all the sites (100's), we've been lucky to usually have decent neighbors. Each row has management or host campers so things don't get out of hand. It's older and has some limitations but I go for the beach.
As someone else stated, they are kind of anal about the early check-in time. I arrived 5 minutes early and was pre-registered and did notice the individual take a look at the clock. I chuckled to myself. The park was pretty empty so it was quiet. Well kept and the people were nice (in spite of some comments I read elsewhere). I could see in the summer months it could be a "zoo" because of many sites in a relatively small area. Huge beach, biking, close to downtown...Only wish it was closer to me.
This place looks like it has finally closed as suggested in a 2004 post. Although it was open last year, all rigs are cleaned off from the premises and the web site telephone number is "no longer in service". Make way for some condo's!
