This is a very nice State Park! I went with my wife, her sister, and my two young children (3 and 4 months) on Columbus Day Weekend. We went during foliage season so there was a good deal of traffic but this did not bother us as it was quite beautiful everywhere. Slowing down to see everything was really nice. The park restrooms were clean and so were the showers. There is a fee for the showers (.50 cents for each five minutes). They also sell firewood at the front gate ($4.00 a bundle). There isn't much of a playground facility for the children but that didn't bother us or our three year old because we have him do crafts, ride his bike, throw the ball, etc. The location of the campground and the surrounding area is spectacular. The sites are very big, level, and well kept. The park is located next to the Quechee Gorge and there is a trail in the park that you can hike into the Gorge. This time of year (Fall) is a good time to see this area because in addition to the foliage there are also many festivals going on. There are plenty of places to see within 15-20 minutes of this park which makes it a great location for seeing the surrounding area. There are shops and stores within walking distance of the park as well. The campground staff were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

This is one of the best state parks in Connecticut. It has a very nice beach with a nature center. The sites are large enough that you aren't cramped in. Bathrooms were fine but we did not use them much. Mystic is about 45 minutes away and Guilford, the next town over, has a very pretty Town Green with an Old New England feel to it. There are some nice shops and boutiques in Guilford as well as the Town of Madison where the park is located. Outlet shopping is only 5-10 minutes away down I-95 also.

We made reservations for this park about three weeks prior to staying there. The campground is very clean and the facilities as well as the amenities are great. We did like the campground and my kids had fun, but the problem that we had was that we ended up with a campsite all the way in the back of the campground. It was also not terribly level. While this site was convenient to the playhouse and the pool facilities, it was a long way to the camp store and the entrance. There is a trolley that runs throughout the park to these places and the village, but we prefer to walk. It is a long walk if you just want a case of soda or food for the camper. They do have firewood delivery which is a nice amenity though. We did have a nice time but I would probably not stay here again and rather try one of the other campgrounds in the area.

We stayed at this park with our two small children ages three and two months. The campground was very clean and the staff was very nice. They had activities for the kids each day and my three year old was never bored. There was a cute petting zoo with a cow and goats that he liked. The staff kept the facilities clean each day and they were not so visible that it interfered with the camping experience. There are two pools and hot tubs that were easily accessible as well as clean. The only thing that I saw with the campground that needed help were the playground facilities. They could use updating. However, it did not affect my son and he had a blast on the playground anyway. The campground was very convenient to Santa's Village which is across the street. We walked there with the two children although it was a short walk uphill to get back. I would definitely stay here again.
