We stayed at this park 2 years ago and pretty much the same experience both times. Yes, the camping areas are very sandy (you are staying on a beach so its expected) both times we were here it rained so the sand was an issue but it was a deal breaker. It was much busier this time for sure. The restaurant Aunt Kates at the back is a wonderful place to go after being on the road and getting settled that you can grab a drink and a meal and relax. We did also go to the restaurant on the ocean side The Reef which I had seen good and bad reviews and to be honest we had a great meal and we are big foodies to know good from bad. I will say the only complaint, and this wasn't an issue the first time, is the people not picking up from their dogs! I have never in all the parks we have been to seen so much dog poop. People you own a dog...you should own bags (no excuse if the park doesn't provide) pick up please...not fun to step in and seeing as though this park is VERY dark at night it is very easy to step in. So maybe the staff can be a little more involved with enforcing that. Also if you just can't live without high speed internet or really good phone service without some type of booster you will have bad service...but then again you are on vacation so not a major issue.
I can't count how many times we have stayed here. We have stayed for weekends and major holidays. Pricing has been from the low $30's to mid $50's. There are always some type of deal on, for percentages off or BOGO nights. Always super clean. We love that we can stay here and never leave if we take advantage of the restaurant on site (seasonal) or the outdoor bar which has a full grill year round. There are also many stores and places to eat very close. They are always adding new features to the park. Check in is always a breeze and they are gated and at the check in tower 24 hours a day. I would have to say we have stopped going during summer holiday weekends, because the resort is crazy busy, but that's because we don't have children and most activities are geared towards them during these weekends. They have live entertainment at the pool most nights and that's always fun. One lady bartender and has been here for years, is excellent and always remembers us when we come back. It is a large park so bring your bikes. I could go on and on about this resort and how awesome it is.
We arrived and at first had a mix up in our space assignment but the staff member quickly researched our spot, the issue and got everything straightened out. He then said no rush to finish our check in just come to the office when we had time. The park is very clean. We opted for the best sites offered: with propane grill, fire pit, swing, full patio set and concrete patio, a long pull through. It was a little pricey when compared to Disney's Fort Wilderness, but then again getting into the Fort lately is impossible. The park is very close to SeaWorld (about a 15 minute drive) same for Epcot and downtown Disney. You have to plan traveling to these places carefully since the 535 highway is a like a parking lot for traffic. Publix store about 2 minutes away, major restaurants, stores, etc., very close. Considering the proximity to highways, it was quiet and safe. They also have activities in the in the Clubhouse, but that may be due to season.
I had seen this park reviewed and a few times people mentioned how open the spots were. Well. it was a farm at one point so open fields are the norm. However we didn't have reservations and the gentlemen that we checked in with quickly accommodated us in a site off the "square" field others talk about. It didn't have sewer but we knew we would be fine for the 4 days without that. Let me say it was an absolutely beautiful spot! All spots looked nice. He brought over a table for us and said if we needed anything else let him know. Yes, the trains run very close to here and yes, they are loud but you get used to them and even on the last night/day I loved hearing them pass by. Very close to downtown Savannah; also a short drive to major stores and restraints. Used the laundry which only had a single washer/dryer but lucky for us we were the only ones thats needed it.
Just stayed for an overnight as we traveled through. The lady in office was efficient and put us in a close spot so it was easy to maneuver out in the morning. Cute little farm out back and huge Pecan trees that were dropping pecans on grounds and you could take them with you.
A wonderful experience. We checked in to stay for Christmas holiday and was pleasently surpised by the location. Absolutely stunning. All spots looked well kept. We drove around the rest of the park and the ramp area is one of the nicest I have seen for anyone bringing in a boat.
