Beautiful campground--one of the nicest we've stayed at. Nice pool, exercise room. Park is very empty this time of year. Tip: don't go to this area in summer. The heat and humidity were bad enough, but you could not be outside because of the biting bugs (think they were no see-ums).
This is a hard campground to rate. It is the only campground close to New York. Office people are helpful with directions for getting around. There is a restaurant/bar next door that has a beautiful view of Manhattan. BUT, the campground is nothing more than a poorly maintained gravel parking lot. Electricity is unpredictable if people need to use their air conditioners. There is supposed to be 50 amp service, but you can't use it because "the system is old". We were in C36. There are 4 sites in this area (C30, 32, 34, and 36). Do not book these sites if it's going to be hot as you can barely run one air conditioner before it blows the electricity. Other areas had electricity problems too, but I don't know the numbers. Laundry had 6 sets of machines (3 sets were out of order). Resort it's not; location it has.
This campground is in poor condition. No one available in office (even to take your money). Rough neighborhood and mostly occupied by permanent residents. Good Sam needs to go out and re-evaluate this campground. We stayed one night so we could visit friends in Houston and would never return to this campground.
