We checked three parks in the area before choosing this one. (KOA & Royal View were the other two). The pool was clean, the people were friendly. They have lots of thing to do, especially for the kids. Pool, tether ball, basketball, mini golf, and a playground just to name a few. The sites were slightly closer together where we were, but other ares of the park were spaced better. It's dusty, but so are all the other parks. We'd definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed this park very much. I believe that one of the previous reviewers was confused about which campground he was reviewing. There are no gravel roads in any of the RV loops in this park. The sites are not crowded. They are spaced nicely, and there is lots of shade and trees between sites. There is a two mile bike loop that is nice. The beach and swimming area is nice also, and there is a camp store near the beach. We will return!
This is a nice, secluded get-away destination. There were a total of three campers, and 12 kids (baseball team, in town for a tournament in nearby Nacogdoches) in our group. Everyone loved the place, and would definitely return. The interior roads are dirt, so you need to bring door mats to minimize the dirt that gets tracked in. However it was great! The sites were spaced nicely, and there is lots of shade trees. The management was very courteous and helpful. Someone met us at the gate, and let us to our sites even though the office had been closed over an hour. They also let us leave our rigs here until our last game was complete on Sunday, and did not charge us for the extra day. The spring-fed pond is very nice. The kids loved it. There was a rope swing hanging from a tree over the water. The wildlife was abundant, and we even had a few deer walk right through our site. We will definitely return!
This park is every bit as good as the other reviews have suggested. Upon arrival, we were led to our site and assisted with backing in. Then, while I was setting the chocks and unhooking they showed up with a load of firewood that had been left at a nearby site! It was very cold that day, and this was very welcome. The grounds are very well maintained, and the river access, was beautiful. This is a very large park, yet everything was ran great. The staff was helpful and courteous. It was easy to see why everyone we met had been coming there several years in a row. We will definitely be back!
This was a great park. It is just over an hour north of Dallas, and is a great getaway! The sites are spaced very well, so neighbors are not too close, but there are also group sites available. Dennison is nearby, and convenient for any shopping needs. There are some very nice views of the lake, as well as some good walking trails. We will definitely be back!
This park definitely qualifies as "middle of nowhere" However, the sites were level, WiFi worked well, and the management was very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant at the campground even served a tasty dinner. It was a pleasant surprise. If we are in the area again, we would stay here again.
We stayed here due to the fact that Big Bend was full (even the no-hookup sites). The cable TV never worked right. The WiFi worked OK, and the laundry room was clean. This park and the surrounding area is pretty desolate. However, if this is the only place available, it is definitely worth it to see Big Bend NP. The park entrance is only 5 miles or so from the park. There is a store nearby with a restaurant. They have diesel, and food, and also a grill. The food is OK. We'd stay here again if necessary.
This park definitely deserves the great reviews. The trails, scenery and wildlife are definitely not what you expect in Texas. Don't miss the McDonald Observatory nearby, and take the scenic loop drive around Fort Davis and surrounding area.
Owners were very friendly. She came out in the rain to assist us with getting into the site. The sites were level, and even though it was raining, they drained quickly. The WiFi worked well, and we were quite a distance from the office. We caught fish in the catch and release lake. My 10 year old caught a couple of nice catfish. This is a nice park for overnight, or even for an extended stay. Picnic tables, or a little better pavement would have been nice. However we would definitely stay here again. Very peaceful.
