The good. The campground is easily accessible and convenient to I-5. The sites will accommodate a 45 footer with a tow. The bad is that the staff are basically cold and stiff so if you expect a warm welcome camp elsewhere. All the sites are the same: close together. But workable for an overnight stop. But the electric, the water, and the septic hookups are at the very rear of the site. A word of caution!!! The portico that one has to cross under to enter the campground is 13.6. We are 13.5 so getting in was sporty for us. The cable offering is good. Every site should be be to able to access what ever satellite. Couple of odd issues. The trash bins and dumpsters are locked between 11PM and 6AM. The laundry situation is interesting. One can not use coins but rather need to purchase a card. We did not use the laundry. Expect check-in to be efficient and cold. Expect that all off the hook ups to be at the very back of the site. Our electrical took about 40 feet to hook up since we are towing and needed to pull to the front of the site. We had to add an addition hose to reach the water hook up. Decided to forgo the septic since it was a long run. Should we come this way again I would look for an alternative, but if none made the cut, I would camp here again.
Very convenient campground, not fancy but where it counts they are excellent. Excellent power, water, sewer location, level sites, ease of access. The camp store is very modest. The office folks are friendly and professional. They do have a pool and miniature golfing but we have not used them. There are a good number of permanent residents but they seem friendly and most of the transient sites are separated from the permanents. We have stayed at the Elkhart campground several times a year, since 2003.
This is an excellent campground for an overnight or a longer stay. Sites are spacious and well laid out. Roads are asphalt and the site are all concrete pads. The laundry facilities are exceptional. Satellite as available from every site. (No trees.) Water, power, and sewer location are A plus. We use to enjoy a meal and great Margarito's but that feature has been discontinued since the campground has been sold to new owners. Hopefully the new ownership will reopen the little diner. There is an RV repair and RV wash service on site.
This a small but very nice campground. We have stayed here often. Water and power is good, sewer location well located. Some sites have satellite access. Reasonably easy access in and out. Shaded sites available. The BBQ dinner is reasonably priced and very tasty. Site are fairly level. This is one campground where we usually would like to stay longer than an overnight.
This is a large campground adjacent the a horse racing track and a Casino. Its a simple few miles off the highway. Other than a children's playground, shower and laundry facilities, there does not appear to be any other amenities. There are no trees, roads are gravel. Not a place where we would want to spend anything more than an overnight, but its location works out perfect for us as a stopover. We usually stop over here twice a year. I have never seen the campground anywhere near full. The better sites are in the lower section near the track. The track workers start early so there is some machinery noise early in the AM.
This is a great park. We just left there after a one week stay. After reading the previous review not sure we are talking about the same park. We have stayed at American RV Park on average of twice a year for the past ten years. Water is good power is good, sewer is located in the right area. There is cable and a good many of the sites are satellite friendly. There is a lot of variability in terms of sites.. Some have luscious shaded grass front yards others have stone yards. The new section is all concrete and asphalt. Very similar to the Oasis in Amarillo. All the pads in the park are concrete. All the roads are paved. The staff is a friendly and professional as you will find. Can't comment on how the Spa and pool was in June but in July they were both pristine. As a native of Albuquerque I find the location perfect. Close to Camping World, Flying J, Grocery and pharmacies. Great views of the Sandia's. The area in not congested and most any attraction in Albuquerque is minutes away.
We liked this campground so much that we have booked two reservations for next year for a total of four weeks. The roads are paved and wide; we are 42 feet with a tow and had no difficulty maneuvering around the campground or pulling into our site. The power, water, cable are as good as it gets. The site where we are camped is wide and has a wide concrete pad. The sites are staggered and fairly wide. The picnic table is extra large, and the site has a fire ring. Other parts of the campground do not have a concrete pads but appear plenty wide and level. The noise from the jets is noticeable, but it was not an irritant to us. It is the sound of freedom. One of our neighbors found the noise level too much but loved the campground and location. Others did not mind or liked the sound of the Jets. This is the off season so the campground is lightly populated but does fill up on the weekends. The pools were closed and the camp store was only open on the week end. There is a convenience store very close to the entrance of the campground. We are runners and bike riders so we especially appreciate the bike path down to the boardwalk.
One of the most relaxing campgrounds we have stayed in. The facilities are excellent: easy access, good 50 amp power, cable TV, satellite access, free Wi-Fi, very good water pressure, a table and a fire pit. This is an extremely pet friendly location. Our pull-though is very long with a large space between our neighbor on the awing side of the coach. The host was very friendly even had fresh cookies out for the taking. We like this place mostly because it is one of the most relaxing campgrounds we have been to. Only booked for two nights now we wish it were longer. Next time!
I have rated this facility higher in the past but the change in management has significantly altered the camping experience at Drummer Boy- some of the staff are extremely difficult to deal with on the simplest of transactions. We have camped here on 4 previous occasions and until this year we were entirely happy with our choice of campground. The campground facility itself is excellent, but some of the staff are so difficult to deal with that it spoils all of the features this campground has to offer. Gettysburg is a wonderful destination, and this campground used to be a place we looked forward to visiting. However, this time around was awful. In addition to the rude behavior we experienced, we also witnessed similar behavior with other campers and heard of many others. What a shame that such a great facility has lost its customer service perspective! One other note, the Wifi set up lacks bandwidth and depending on where you are in the part signal strength is very weak, so connecting is difficult and slow once connected.
Nice campground very close to the Redwoods. Staff was very friendly. While we had a pull through site, we ended un hooking the dinghy and backing out of our site, since there was not enough room to maneuver our 40 footer to go forward and make the turns. If we are in the area again we would choose to stay here again.
This is a nice park but the sites area bit tight for my tastes... The staff was very friendly. The WIFI was free but where we were is was basically none operative. The was only an overnight stay for us so we did not get to take advantage of some of the facilities the campground has to offer.
One of our favorites. Campground is always pristine. Excellent open areas for dogs adjacent to campground. Free WIFI. The made to order breakfast and supper grill offers very good meals at a reasonable price. The sites are long and the roads are wide so maneuvering is very easy regardless of the rig size. The owner is very serious about pet owners cleaning up after their pets... Something we appreciate.
