We have stayed here every year for the past 7 or 8 years. Very handy to things we needed in the Twin Cities. We do object to the $7 charge for making a reservation over the phone. Yes, it would be alright if we were a NO SHOW, and they could make it non-refundable in that case. But when you reserve and SHOW UP, it should be deducted from your campground fees. Sewer connections are set so far back, they almost require an extra piece of sewer hose. It is obvious that this campground was not designed by experienced campers. The campground hosts need to take a course on: "How to win friends and influence people" or something of that nature. They all take their jobs way too serious and their lousy personalities show it. Yes we will return. But the next time, we will just show up un-announced and take our chances. They certainly weren't very busy. Maybe we will try the casino out at Prior Lake.
We stayed only one night, but the host and hostess (owners) were very cordial and courteous, and made us feel right at home. They told us they have done a lot to upgrade the park and it showed it. The cabana area around the pool was very unique as well as the patio set-up right across from our overnight parking spot. Will definitely return on our next trip that way.
This campground had some bad to mediocre reviews in the past, but I am here to tell you, things have changed. They have a beautiful club house facility built, that also houses fantastic restrooms, showers and laundry room: just opened 3 weeks ago. Our site was 6 campsites away from the club house, was very level and full hook-ups including cable for TV. A pool is in the construction phase just adjacent to the clubhouse. And although this wouldn't be considered a destination campground unless you are snow birding, it definitely suited our needs for two nights while visiting family in "The Villages."
This campground has really gone down hill over the years through change of ownership being now corporate. We had a family reunion using 3 cabins and 4 campsites. The campsites were not close to level. The fire pits were filthy but my main complaint was our children and their families staying in the 3 cabins. At $100+ per night they were best classified as the pits. Plumbing that didn't work, refrigerators that didn't operated properly. Cleaning between guest occupancy's was pathetic: 2 towels were furnished for a 4 person cabin. Same sheets all week long, this is not acceptable. The workers there have been decreased at least 70%. They know that the lake has not been stocked with trout in years and they continue to rip people off for $6.50 each to through the line in the water and catch nothing. I saw 4 trout caught in the lake in 5 days. It used to be that every time practically you casted a line you caught a trout. The campground was about 20% occupied all the time we were here. Which only means: price up, services down. Means they lose. We will never return here again after staying there on 4 or 5 other occasions. Sorry
We really enjoyed this campground. Found it in our Passport book. Had planned going to the next exit to another campground but decided to check this one out. The people at this park truly are pleasant and go out of their way to help out. We had no reservation but the man squeezed us in in a site at the top of the hill outside. Where we were serenaded by dump trucks going into the gravel pit and 18 wheelers going into the terminal. But found that to be OK. At $27.00 for the two nights it was different to say the least. We enjoyed the meal served up quite reasonable on one evening. And talking to the other people in the campground. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone. Sorry about some of the other posts. Those that found it hard to get into their campsites with their monster rigs, and those that didn't like the permanents that were located in the back of the park. Remember, permanents are needed to insure that a campground stays solvent. The pool and facilities were really clean and really appreciated the management squeezing us in even though they had over-booked for the weekend.
