The full-hooks are well leveled, mostly sun and close together without fire pits. The water and electric sites are well shaded and are of a very good size but motorhomes could have some minor leveling issues. The price is reasonable. It is not a well known campground and under used. This is a worthwhile place as a base from which to go on sightseeing trips into DC, Bull Run, and Harpers Ferry.
The majority of the sites in the two main campgrounds have excellent spacing with the woods between sites affording a good level of privacy. The pads were level and clean. The range of recreation facilities are solid. We liked the idea of having two pools. Wireless internet not available throughout the campground. Only sites closest to the main office and pool area get a fair signal.
The campground is woven along a stream and a hill ridge. The sites were somewhat level. Though their wireless system has good reach, there are times when it was difficult to get on (likely due to number of people gaining access). The spacing is fair for a private campground. The pool was nice with a reasonable amount of deck furniture.
We were put into one of their premium sites which besides being full service pull-thru have concrete patios, deck chairs and table with umbrella, patio swing and propane grill. Over all the campground was pleasant. Average spacing and most sites have some good amount of shade. The pool could be larger to handle the weekend crowds and it could use more deck furniture. They had a free pancake breakfast on Sunday (you pay for the bacon or sausage as well as juice). The large pond adds nicely to the campground. It was an enjoyable stay but we are do not feel the premium sites are worth the extra costs, (we had not choice as all other sites were booked).
The entrance is directly adjacent to a home. As the entrance is not well marked it is hard to tell which is the entrance to the park and the one to the home. The entrance drive is narrow and two RVs could have difficulty passing in and out at the same time. The nuts and bolts of a good campground are in place, but the follow-through is questionable. The pool lacks adequate deck furniture and the washrooms were not well cleaned...one guest mentioned it had been well over a day since they had been cleaned. Ventilation in the washrooms was poor. The advertised free Wi-Fi which is anemic at best and the low signal can only be picked up by sitting outside the office or in the pavilion across from the office. This is one of the poorest KOAs we have visited.
