Park is within a very pretty, wooded (Redwoods) area. Not many people in mid-May and we had the park to ourselves. Facilities needed a little mending but seems to be very family oriented. A few minute walk (from within the park) down to the scenic Eel River. Also has a lodge, cabins and tent sites. Camp store for "necessities". Family owned and operated.
Older park run by very nice staff. A number of the 25 F/S sites look like long term tenants. Doesn't detract from the park, just from the number of sites actually available. Also, appx. 16 tent sites. Some of the sites have some privacy thanks to shrubs and placing of sites. Park sits just above east side of Hwy 101, overlooking very beautiful portion of the Oregon coast. Sites 40-44 best for view.
Clean and aesthetic grounds and very clean facilities. Very helpful and friendly staff. Campground does slope but the use of tiered, concrete level sites with paved roads with such a pretty vista make it a non-issue. Nice base camp in a great recreational area.
