This is a very family friendly campground. They have a petting farm where they let the kids into the corral to feed the animals every morning. There is a playground, a pool (closed for the winter,) volleyball court, and horseshoes. It's a very rustic place (I think the person earlier who said it was very commercialized was talking about a different place.) The roads are dirt and pretty bumpy, no concrete pads for the RV's, but it's very shady and they allow open fires. It's a 20 minute drive to Yosemite National Park where we spent one day and had a great time exploring. The bathrooms are not glamorous but they are clean and fresh smelling. All in all, we had a great time. No cell service though!
We loved it! It's very rustic and like true camping, but with nicer amenities. Tall trees give it a woodsy feel, you can cook over a campfire. They have an outdoor theater to watch movies on Saturday night, an on site restaurant, fishing, clean bathrooms, and are very dog friendly. The best part was the beach, though! They have an inflatable rock wall, see saw, and other climbing things out in the water. You swim out, climb on them, then fall off into the water. And the surrounding scenery is gorgeous! Great price too.
We wouldn't stay here again, in spite of the few nice features it did have. The good: pool, playgrounds, hike down to the river, scenic redwood trees, cute little general store on site. The bad: dirt and potholes everywhere which filled with water when it rained so the whole place was muddy the entire weekend. Can't use your satellite dish because the trees block the signal. The extra fees for kids/dogs/wi-fi were annoying. The ugly: the bathrooms were gross. I wouldn't even consider showering there without wearing shoes. I don't like having tent sites right next to RV sites because the tent campers were outside partying well into the night and kept us awake. Then when we got up in the morning to make breakfast over the fire they were shooting us dirty looks for waking them up. But the best part? I got a bladder infection from swimming in their pool.
The only reason I didn't give this a 10 was that there's really no shade anywhere, and it was blazing hot over the Fourth of July. The place is so new the trees are still tiny. I'd also love to see a playground for the kids, but everything else was top notch. Sparkling pool, beautiful lodge, cement pads, and well tended grass around each spot. The staff could not have been friendlier. They even have a dog wash area which is just like a do-it-yourself car wash. You put your quarters in, choose soap or rinse, but you spray down the dog instead of your car! Yes, this is adjacent to the highway and you do hear traffic noise, but honestly, after an hour I tuned it out and never noticed it again. There are stores and restaurants within a 5 minute walk if you don't feel like cooking or forgot anything important. You can fish in the Sacramento River although we never caught anything, but it was fun trying. I would absolutely stay here again if you're into a luxurious experience. I even got a massage on site!
