An old park that has been in the family for 50 to 60 years. Mostly seasonal and I'm told there is a five year waiting list. We camped on the Lake Erie side where they allow tent camping right on the beach and RV's in the lane-way along the beach. Because it was off season it was very quiet and we had a lot of space around us. We enjoyed the view and would come back again but only in the off season because we could see that the place is a zoo in the high season. The amusement park next door is also closed in the off season so we didn't have to deal with the noise from that. Maybe a great spot for families and young people in the summer but not for us sixty year old types. They gave us free WiFi because we stayed two nights. Washrooms were old but clean and well kept.
This is an old run down park with mostly seasonal campers. We made the mistake of paying before seeing the shower house. Previous reviews are a little on the "kind" side for sure. Washrooms and showers were filthy and disgusting. Luckily the elderly woman who runs the place gave us our $30.00 back and we found another campground.
Reasonably sized and level sites. Most are electric only which is what we had. Park has higher rates on the weekends which is what we paid. We were surprised to see that you have to pay seven dollars to get into the park and then another 27 for camping making an electric only site a bit expensive at thirty four dollars. If I return to this area I would go to Taylorsville State Park in KY which was 21 dollars per night for 50 Amp and water and a pull through site and it is about the same distance from Louisville.
Older campground but well maintained with large private sites. Pad was paved and easy to level on. Courteous staff and nice playground for the children. Everything was as expected and the price very reasonable.
We stayed on the pull through site #40. Everything was "as advertised" Park was well maintained and offered many trails and equestrian camping as well. Site was nice and level. We would stay here again.
We stayed one of the full service sites. It was unfortunate that the sites were so un-level. We could not get level even with front wheels off the ground. Also the pad was barely wide enough for the RV so we were stepping into the mucky grass instead of onto the pad when we exited the RV. It was very rainy during our stay which made the situation much worse. There were many good level sites in the park if you did not require full service. The full service sites were better for trailers as they would be easier to level. Staff were courteous.
We booked a waterfront site. It was too small for our motor home so they let us use two sites as it was not busy. The waterfront sites are small and not suitable for a large motor home. The water view sites across the road from the water can accommodate larger motor homes. Staff are courteous and accommodating. WiFi was free and worked well. Park could use a little effort on site cleanup and maintenance but overall we were happy. We would return but only in the off season when the park is quiet as it would be too tight if all of the sites were occupied.
This is a relatively new park and the owners have obviously made a serious effort to have a quality RV Park. Very polite and professional staff. We had a waterfront site and it was a reasonable sized site. Everything was first class but there was one issue which ruined our stay. The weather had been quite cool and a lot of fish had died. These dead fish along with 75 to 100' of weeds were trapped against the sea wall and they stunk so bad that we chose to leave after one night and find other accommodations without the smell problem. They were kind enough to refund our money and we were on our way. I am not sure if the "smell" issue was a fluke or if it is ongoing. I rated it an "8" based on the smell issue being a fluke when we were there. Without the smell I would give it a 9 and if the smell is a regular issue I would have to give it a 5. There were no washrooms or showers but all sites were full service so that is not an issue for most people.
Polite staff and fantastic ocean front sites. Great location for visiting the area. It is a small campground and there is not much to do on site but for the money you can't beat it. We are looking forward to returning in January 2011.
Probably a good inexpensive park for people who wish to stay for the season. Facilities are old and tired but the price is low for seasonal visitors. This park is clearly geared to seasonal campers as they are not setup for short term campers and do not take reservations for short stays. Part of the property is littered with 50 to 60 year old rusted out vehicles and heavy equipment like an auto wreckers lot. Very unsightly and that is where they put us. Owners are very set in their ways and were rude to us. Seasonal people were friendly and approachable. Good location for shopping and touring the Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg area. We would not stay here again.
We spent two nights on the "Bay" side and two nights on the "Inlet" side. Clean laundry facilities and well maintained campsites. Wi-fi available at the office. Mature "tropical" type setting. Short drive to beautiful beach and old Fort De Soto. We are looking forward to a return visit this coming February. The only thing we found odd about this park is the fact that you can't book a site online but it was 30% empty. Apparently they keep a large number of sites for first come first served.
First of all the rate was $144 per night, but the form I filled in would only allow two digits so I put 99. Large number of permanent sites and most were very close together. Our site was large and direct waterfront but littered with beer caps and bits of junk. Not well maintained at all. Had to pay for Wi-fi, and it was terrible. The staff in the office were rude and unfriendly, not what you expect for that price. The beach was a mountain of sea weeds and dead fish and unusable. I don't know why they wouldn't clean them up. Nothing to do in the area other than driving to Key West. Good thing we only had to stay two nights. We will not return to this park.
Nice and clean modern campground. Courteous and professional staff. Beautiful clean laundry facilities. Everything maintained to perfection and reasonably priced. Close to I-95 and a reasonable drive to other attractions. If you do not have a car with you the area is not pedestrian friendly so don't plan on walking to shops etc. Excellent.
