This is a beautiful Texas State Park. Lots of really nice campsites with decent space between sites so you don't feel a lack of privacy. Park staff was very friendly and helpful and took the extra time to make sure I received a campsite I would like. Located on the southeast edge of Austin, shopping, restaurants, and attractions are nearby. The park has great hike and bike trails and Onion Creek flows through it. We stayed here five nights and would liked to have stayed more. We will definitely be back.

Awesome campground! Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of wildlife including deer, turkey and many different species of birds. Bird watchers will really appreciate the well maintained bird blinds. Great hike and bike trails. Tubing on the South Llano River is a blast. Very family oriented park with many very nice, shaded back-in RV sites. The only reason I didn't give this campground a 10 was that an enormous storm caused the river to flow over the bridge at the entrance of the park causing the staff to close the park for 24 hours... no one in and no one out (except for an emergency exit road that could not accommodate towed trailers or motorhomes). While extremely rare, it can happen. This is our favorite campground.

This is my favorite campground. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The park is situated in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. There are lots of trees and several shaded full hook-up sites as well as lots of wildlife that includes javelina, deer, raccoons, foxes, skunks (well-mannered), and a wide variety of birds. Cell phone coverage is spotty in the lower areas of the park, but a short drive up to the scenic overlook yields a strong signal. Hiking trails are excellent and horseback riding is available nearby. You will also want to attend a Star Party that is hosted by nearby McDonald Observatory. We never get tired of coming to this campground.
