This is a good park, especially for the fourth of July. They have an amusement park for the kids with rides, and the pool has a small water slide. Pull-thru sites are not shaded but offer a good view of the fireworks show the campground puts on. Bathrooms are usually very nice, but this trip (this was our 2nd time there), they did not stay as clean as before. Also had more noisy neighbors than in the past and had to go all the way to the main gate to find security to ask them to quiet them down. We would return to this park despite the bathrooms and noise issues.

We stayed here 2 different nights on our way to/from visiting friends in NC. It was easy to find, and the staff seemed very friendly. The entrance is gated, but they opened the gate for us to come in after hours. We did call ahead and reserve a spot as we were driving there and we mentioned that we'd be arriving after closing time. It did seem to be set up mostly with seasonal campers, or the rentals that they have available. But, we were given a nice back-in site both times with views of the lake. Sites were gravel but of decent size. They had a nice pool (it wasn't open for the season yet)right near the lake, mini-golf, and a place with pool tables, arcade games, etc. A lot of boaters were there, they had a decent boat ramp. The camp store seemed well stocked, and our kids thought the place was nice enough that we are going to plan a trip there just to camp for a few days, rather than use it just as a stop over. Staff was VERY friendly, that makes it even nicer. Bathrooms were clean, but we did not use the showers. I would recommend it, but would also recommend calling ahead, especially if coming in after hours.

Great place to stay, close to Paxtuxent River Navy Base. We usually stay in one loop that requires your RV to have full hook-ups because there is no bathhouse on this loop. Good sites on this loop, shady and wooded, fairly private, nice sized with fire rings and picnic tables. Bring your mosquito repellent because of proximity of woods/water, but very nice. Lots of water around you, because it's on the southern tip of MD. Gated, admission to registered campers only, so felt safer. Things to see/do, and within driving distance to other sightseeing destinations. NOT fun to get there in the dark, suggest arriving before that for ease of entry to state park itself. Once inside the campground, it's not too bad but sites are dark due to trees.
