This is definitely a campground. I wouldn't stay longer than a few days...just enough time to visit the Estuarium, Fort and beaches. This island is definitely a bird lovers paradise and the campground is well situated for that. The sites are very uneven and heavily rooted. The wifi was down when we got there and remained down all week and the management didn't seem to care. The laundry is outdoors and was dirty and rusted. After the rain our sites and our neighbour's were filled with water - we were ankle deep at one point. Great area for family camping and birders but I would stay in Gulf Shores and take the ferry for a day trip.
We loved the location. Close to the ocean. Close to the river. Close to St. Augustine. The heavy tree cover and sand/shell surface was not a problem...you have to expect this if you want to be this close to nature. The park is perfect for stargazing as there is very little lighting. We did have to take measures to keep the inside free of sand. The restaurants are great. Wi-Fi is practically non-existent unless you visit the office, bathhouse or stand under a tower. Most long term visitors have their own internet. The only complaint would be that for the price $62/night the facilities are rather old, worn and in need of updating. The bathhouse is clean but rusty and dated. The laundry in the bathhouse area could use an update - one machine was held together with duct tape. We would stay here again - but not long term.
Well kept RV park. 30 minutes to downtown with traffic. Publix within walking distance, Walmart 10 minutes. TengoInternet which is very slow (I don't know why anyone uses them). No cable TV available. Many different site ground cover but all seem level. Sites have enough room between them. The middle of the park is the quietest. The entry road is a series of speed bumps - a few too many for my liking if you leave the park several times a day. The pool is at the front of the park near the highway. Nice fishing pond. The staff greeted us as we departed and asked if we enjoyed our stay and welcomed us to return.
Friendly staff. Great campground in a residential area that is within walking/biking distance to the beach and lighthouse. Even the town is within biking/walking distance. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Great place to leave your vehicle parked and use alternate transportation (walk, bike, shuttle). Shuttle into Savannah leaves hourly from the lighthouse and only costs $3. Entry roads are narrow and curvy but the staff helps you to your site and really know their stuff. Sites are close but comfortable enough. Each site has a fire ring and tree coverage. Wifi was best closer to the centre of the park but still available on the edge.
Paid for water/electric pull through site and an extra $2 for cable. Free Wi-Fi for 30 minutes, but $5 a day for each computer. Very hilly, narrow access to sites. Many sites require leveling, but the lower level sites were good. It is an older facility with plenty of tall trees. It is close to interstate for easy access, but also a little noisy. OK for an overnight stop. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a welcome gift of cookies. We were only there for a one night stop over. We would probably find somewhere easier to access next time.
We agree with the previous review. Our rate is for a one night stay and so our review maybe skewed by the shortness of our stay. All sites and roads are concrete. Sites have grass sides and are roomier than most. Wi-Fi was good. The staff was very friendly and the park well maintained with beautiful common buildings, pool and hot tub. Separate small and large dog parks. The park is located outside Houston, with direct access to the freeway. There is some road noise but not disturbing. The municipal park and golf course are conveniently located through a gate at the back of the property. We will return.
As previously stated this is the best and cleanest park on the island and they do a lot of things right, but that is not to say they can't improve. PROS: Within walking or biking distance to many amenities. Friendly staff. Clean washrooms, pool, hot tub and common buildings. Has garbage pick up. Allows RV/Truck washing at your site. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV. Few sites have patios. CONS, or things to do better: The Wi-Fi dropped or crashed often. The "Premium" sites do not have patios, and are next to a busy road with a lot noisy traffic. Sites are close together, with not a lot of side yard. Sharp rock covers clay. This is a great park but at the high end of the rate scale. It looses points due to the terrible Wi-Fi and small sites.
This is a very friendly upscale park. Well maintained and clean. Price based on 1 1/2 weeks. Daily price is $52 for pull thru - a little pricey since there really is no "resort" amenities other than pools. Private showers with toilet and sink. The washers and dryers are small capacity high efficiency type that cost $2 for 40/45 minutes. It would be great if they had a few large capacity units. 45 minutes from downtown Austin but close to other suburban amenities. Can not walk or bike anywhere due to the busy narrow, twisty road. However there is a butcher, corner store, liquor store next to the park. There are many full-timers and winter Texans that return every year who are very friendly. We would consider this park again.
This is a great stopover campground as well as a great place to stay if you are a gambler. The campground is well maintained and clean. Good free internet. Free shuttles to the casino. Right next to a golf course. Only reason for a 9 and not a 10 was the lack of a pool (we didn't need it in January but would be an asset in the hot summer months). Although not a fault of the park there is nowhere close by to walk to a convenience store.
The rate refects an off-season rate (late Sept) and weekly discount. Rate seemed expensive for what we got. Most of the resort was being closed down for the season and we didn't use the one remaining pool. There was only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the whole facility and they were expensive $3.00 each and not hi-efficency We paid extra for "large" site which weren't. They were very hard to back into. Low hanging branches scraped our 5th wheel's roof and limited the area we could actually park in. The wifi was spotty - cutting in and out. No recycling after peak period. It seems like a nice park but for the price and the area of Cape Cod we will stay in Eastham next time.
The City of Ottawa doesn't know what a gem they have with this park...otherwise they would put some money into it and upgrade the facilities. On the plus side it is well located in a wooded area just off the Hwy and near the bike paths so you can get into the city easily by vehicle or bike. Although there are only back-in sites they are large and located in pods which limits traffic. On the minus side there is no sewer hookup sites which puts a strain on the shower facilities (one shower per 47 sites). The shower and washroom facilities are clean but are looking tired. The Wi-Fi hotspot is at the office but once the office closes you must sit outside to get service - not great for planning your next days adventures. Having said all this we will use the campground again while in the area but will limit our stay due to the lack of sewer hook-up.
The rate reflects the discount for off season. Rate seems high but with no hidden costs. Wi-Fi was strong and included in the cost, as was the cable. Sites are nicely laid out with each unit angled so you are not staring into your neighbor's windows. Great location for accessing the bike trail (right from the campground). Many restaurants, shops, and beaches within walking or cycling distance. Clean facilities. Laundry was expensive ($3/wash and $0.25/minute to dry) but the machines were new high-efficiency. The campground was quiet - we didn't hear the highway noise.
Clean and well kept. Staff are friendly. Quiet with a great view of the city and Organ Mountains. Wi-Fi was good. Laundry and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Very dusty due to the type of gravel and since they power rake each site as it is vacated - keep your windows closed. Loses points for the dust and since the pool was closed and would not be open until May.
A very unique setting for both small and big rigs. The lack of any city lights provides a wonderful view of the night sky. This park is not near any amenities but is a great place to travel up to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. The RV sites are large with a concrete pad and shade for the eating areas. The washrooms and showers are quite a hike though. We could live without the sewer hook up but found it inconvenient that there wasn't a dump station. We had to haul the extra weight back to Deming or Silver City.
Campground is a distance from the main highway and far from any stores and at least 45 minutes fro Carlsbad Caverns. The park is perched on high ground and we had lots of strong wind. It overlooks a reservoir...not a lake. It is quite a hike down to the "lake" but there is no beach and you cannot swim in it. There is not much that you can do here it is basically a quiet place to camp. The sites are large and have nice concrete picnic pads with shade. There weren't many RV places in the area that we would want to stay in...this was the best option. If we returned to see the caverns we would probably only stay overnight and be on our way.
Clean, utilitarian park. Great for an overnight stay. We pulled in early enough to enjoy the pool...after we scooped out the leaves and cleaned the lounge chairs. The staff was okay but not friendly. Laundry room was clean and well kept. Wi-Fi was good. Not a place I would stay for any length of time but great for a overnight stop when you just want to pull off the interstate.
A beautiful area with a river view and an island. Nice area to walk and enjoy. The staff was very friendly and the park offered activities inside and outside the park. Short drive to town, quiet setting, good Wi-Fi. Loses points for the tight sites and the long hike up a hill to the office, laundry, pool and washrooms. The laundry closes too early (3 PM is last load). We will return but would ask for a premium site so we have more room. Seems the owners really take an interest in improving and I am sure this park will only get better.
Clean and well kept. Staff very friendly. Garbage pick up at your site was a bonus. Wi-Fi was very good. Safe environment and location. Within walking distance to several restaurants, bars, convenience stores and the beach. Can bike to everything else. Loses points for close sites and expensive.
Clean and well kept. Staff were professional but not overly friendly. This park loses points for the poor Wi-Fi (it kept cutting out or had a poor signal), close proximity of the sites and the park's location (a very industrial and impoverished part of town). The $42 a night rate seems high for the location.
