Not a pleasant experience for a first time camping here (and last). Very boring for children of all ages. Extremely noisy - either the traffic noise from Rt 78 or the farm equipment across the street made our ears ring all day & night. The farm equipment was located 75 yds across the street near sites A24-A25 and you could hear it past sites B12, C13, D15, etc. This was with a full campground at the back end. We had to wait over 3 hours for our fire ring to be delivered to our site (why not just keep the rings at the site like every other campground?). Extra charge for electric heater at $2.50 - outrageous and also told NOT to use your electric water heater. They would probably tell us to use flashlights if they thought they could get away with it. Most of this info not listed on their website so you would know in advance not to camp here. No security at all.
This was a disappointing visit. Upon driving in the overwhelming smell of nasty grey water grabbed your nose. The (temporary?) restrooms were awful. Only one very small (can't bend over) pay shower (yuk) with the machine across from where you shower so you have to step out of the shower (hopefully no soap in your eyes) and insert more coins all the while the shower head pointing toward the coin machine spraying the floor that has no mat while trying to wrestle the shower curtain away from your legs. Of course you can't check how much time is left on your 5 minute shower because the only hook in the shower area is just above the coin machine where your towel covers the machine. Restrooms usually had clogged toilets, no toilet paper and no paper towels. The outside vent pipes for the bathrooms were only about shoulder high - is this even legal? There were so many seasonals that we did not feel welcome whatsoever. The playground (if you can even call it that) was pitiful. Extremely poor signage to even get to this campground. There is still much construction going on. Maybe the owner is doing it himself on weekends and is on the 5 year plan? There was a new office but it's not near being completed. Next to that there is a huge debris pile and an old barn. We won't be back. We certainly over paid for this trip.
Showers were push button and of course don't stay on long enough. Not a big deal but the water was SCALDING HOT! Camp fires were not allowed due to dry conditions. Another camper (ignoring the rules) allowed his large dog in the shower with his young daughters - and the dog came into the shower with me! I'm allergic to dogs. Upon leaving we were not allowed to use dump station because it was full. Have not heard of this before. Had to dump at exit 119 Smyrna exit Rest Area. They also had sewer problems and didn't want us to dump either.
This was a horrible experience. The sites are extremely small and hard to get into (even with our pop-up). We followed the manager in a golf cart to get to our site and he helped us back in. This should have been our first warning sign. We couldn't even use our awning. Very crowded. And people from other (tent) sites constantly came to our site to wash their dishes underneath our bunk end. They played cultural music very loud all day (and sang as well). The pool was very small and crowded. Never again.
We will never camp here again. The stalls in the ladies room are so small that when you sit (even an average size woman of 5'6" your knees hit the door. They have locks on the toilet paper which allows you to pull off only one 4"x4" square at a time. There is no soap or paper towels in the ladies restroom. A man even walked into the bath house while I was showering! We complained to the owners about the issues and THEY DIDN'T CARE! They said that they would not do anything about any of the issues we raised. Do not camp here!
The showers were clean but the water was scalding hot! The temperature could not be adjusted. We were with a group of about 25 people and everyone agreed that the shower water was too hot. There was also a constant sewer/waste smell near the bath house. Otherwise a nice campground but a little pricey.
