We were trying to reach Grand Prairie but due to a sudden snowstorm needed to stop here. A woman operating a campground in Grand Prairie referred us to this campground, which is about a mile off the main highway via a decent gravel road. We arrived in 2 inches of snow & left in 4 inches of snow!!! Used Good Sam card here. Pull-through site. Manager said she had a lot of cancellations due to the snow so I think she was glad we stopped. This was the beginning of the Victoria Day holiday in Canada.
For the price, we were disappointed this park was not closer to the lake or directly on it. We could see down the road another campground right on the lake but didn't drive on to see it's name. We arrived after the office closed and paid the next morning.
Stayed 2 nights here cause we loved the town. Location of RV park wonderful -- just across street from small boat harbor!! We took Stan Stephens Glacier/Wildlife cruise and that was great! Drive to/from Valdez so gorgeous!!
Suggest that you check out sites carefully because we found that some of the hookups were on wrong side of the RV. Although there are trees around the sites, we did not experience any mosquitoes. Good Sam park.
Large gravel lot with mosquitoes. Dinner & breakfast was available in a tent next to office. I fell on the wet restroom floor after getting out of the shower, but management was helpful in providing ice for my bruised knee. Someone tried to siphon gas out of our gas tank overnight (we found the gas cap off), and another RV was broken into & vandalized while the occupants slept (using ear plugs)!!!
Had electric & water back-in site right up by water!! An amazing place to stay!! We would have been there 2 or 3 nights if we had arrived prior to Memorial Day weekend -- city doesn't take reservations and because of warm sunny weather the campground was packed over the holiday weekend. We had to wait til mid-day Monday to get a site.
Nice pull-through sites with lots of trees & LOTS of mosquitoes. Owners presented slide show about the Depression-era settlers from MN, MI and WI that were brought by federal govt. to live in Palmer. The Good Sam clubs in AK were having a mini-rally while we were there.
Had a back-in site close to the office where I could get internet service. Grandson picked this one because of the advertised pancake breakfast & nightly entertainment, but after checking in we found out we were too early for the food or entertainment, which would be offered after Memorial Day.
Advertisements for this campground stated a shuttle service available to go to Mt. Rushmore's evening lighting program, but upon arrival we learned it was not available in May. We went to this RV park because of the advertised shuttle, so we were disappointed to miss the ceremony. We had a pull-through site.
This RV park has extremely spacious sites, most with a great view of the Missouri River. Ours was close to the office/restrooms with lots of green grass and trees and no bugs!! We had a wonderful walleye dinner at the Lodge. Used Good Sam discount.
