This is possibly our favorite campground we've stayed at. The resort is along the American River. They are directly behind Sutter's Mill and close to several other Gold Country activities. There are plenty of trees and they provide a shade awning for your picnic table which is nice. The only negative is the spaces are a bit narrow making for tight quarters.
This is our second stay at Westport and both times we have been happy with the campground. There are several spaces that have direct ocean views with full hookups. Some are pull through while others are back in only. The spaces are relatively large considering the location and view. This is on the northern coast though and never really gets warm. In July, the highs never reached 70. Westport is a good drive from almost everything so come fully stocked and plan on enjoying the great beach access.
Casini Ranch is a huge RV park that is situated along the Russian River. The RV sites with hookups are arranged near the center of the campground but river access is still convenient. The week we were there they weren't at full capacity but the spaces are large so even at their busiest, this is a spacious place to stay. The only thing that keeps it from being a 10 is there are limited activities around the location if you are not on the river.
The park is very clean and well maintained. The spots are close together when compared to private parks. The section we were in only offered 20 amp service. Also be prepared for no cell phone service. On the other hand, I've never seen so much wildlife so close to camp. There are wonderful open areas between the clusters of sites. The marina is close to most sites and the in park water slide is a great diversion for the kids.
The campground and clubhouse were clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Sites were level and easy to park as they were pull through with well designed drives. A couple of minor issues. The park was only 1/2 full but consecutive spaces were assigned. It would have been nice to spread us out a bit more. The park has free WiFi but it is really only usable from the clubhouse.
