Our family really enjoyed this campground. At first we were a little bit leery as there were "shelters" over most of the RV's there and we weren't sure if all those people live here full time or not. It turns out that you can purchase some of the RV lots here for recreational use only. They come with a shelter and shed on site but the owners do not live there full time but can leave their units there. The park owners are incredibly friendly and strive to keep a well maintained and family friendly space. There are many activities for families as well as scheduled events for kids on long weekends such as sand castle contests, outdoor movies, boat races etc. The lake is a small one but nice and warm and clean for swimming. There were peddle boats, canoes and kayaks for rent as well as really neat peddle go carts. There was free ping pong, horseshoes, basketball and outdoor hockey as well. All in all we had a great time and our son says it's one of his favorite places so needless to say we will be back.
We have camped here for the last 5 years and will continue to go back. The beach cannot be beat! It is a bit of a jaunt to get to it depending on where you are in the park but it is worth it. The bathrooms are the cleanest anywhere and the park staff are amazing. They have free daily programs for kids called "Jerry's Rangers" that our son loves to participate in as well as evening educational activities at their amphitheatre. They have a nice nature house with ice cream treats, coffee, and gifts to purchase if you choose. The sites are large and tidy, and are mostly partial sun/shade. The town of Parksville is cute with a very impressive park/water park at the city center and possibly the best mini-golf ever. The towns of Coombs and Qualicum are close by too.
This is resort camping at it's finest. This campground is spotless! It has something for every type of camper such as tenter, RV'er, cabin rental, etc. There is a river that runs behind the campground but not much for sitting at or swimming in, and you can't see it from the campsites. There is a nice salt water pool with a hot tub and a small golf course on site also. They upgraded their playground this year to the pleasure of our seven year old son. They also have a bunny enclosure with two resident bunnies which was cute. The owners were incredibly nice and accommodating. This park is set off the main roads so it is very quiet and the frogs sing you to sleep at night. The only downside for us is the lack of privacy between sites. However in a trailer it makes a wall between you and your neighbor so it wasn't too bad.
This is a very cute and charming campground. There is a large variety of sites available. Some are in a field type setting, some in trees, and some in full sun. All are very tidy and each has it's own trash can which was nice. They have the best playground for kids of all the campgrounds we have been to yet. The staff were so nice and informative. There are bunnies running all over the place which was very cute and there is a man made lake with paddle boats etc. to swim and play in. Also there is an amazing market just 5 minutes down the road that is a MUST SEE! The only negative I can think of is that the very first row of sites backs onto a highway which would likely be quite noisy. However we were on the other side of the park so I can't say for sure.
