Leelanau Pines Campground is located roughly 30 minutes outside of Traverse City and about 20 minutes from Lake Michigan. It is located on Lake Leelanau and has boat access to the lake and docking availability. The campground is very quiet. If you like a lively active campground, this is may not be the place for you. We only saw a few families with children. Approximately 60% of the sites are seasonal campers. The camp store had a variety of food products and camping supplies although it was not overly large and the selection was somewhat limited. There is ice and firewood available. You choose your own firewood (whatever fills one side of a cart they give you). The amount of firewood is very good for the $5 you pay. It is not stored in a covered shelter, so one night we had some damp wood. One very nice feature was that there was a laundry room.

We were pleased when driving in to the campground to find that it was very wooded. The grounds were well cared for and the landscaping was inviting. The campground had all gravel roads and most all of the sites were grass. We enjoyed having a grass site because our dogs tracked in less rocks and dirt. Had it been rainy during our stay, however, the grass site may have been less desirable (potential mud and tire ruts). We stayed at a site on the main hill. The sites near the front were fairly close together and we noticed several campers in large units having a difficult time maneuvering into their sites. There is one post with two spouts for water that two sites share, so if you are at an even numbered site you need a long water hose. The same applies for electricity. Farther back into the campground the sites were more spacious. There were also several sites along the river’s edge. These sites were very nice but were all booked when we reserved. They are the farthest out from the camp store and pool, however. For a more details visit: http://crazy4camping.com/campsite-reviews/ohio/camp-toodik-loudonville-oh/

We liked the fact that the campground was very scenic and close to nearby trails. We especially liked the Badlands Trail within the park. The campground is small but we went in early spring and it wasn't very busy at all. The showers were very clean in comparison to most state and county parks we have visited. I agree with other comments about the sites not being level. If you have anything other than a tent, you will want a lower level site.
