We reserved online for a 50 amp site but when we arrived we found we had been assigned to a 30 amp site. The attendant was very apologetic and helpful. With the approval of the manager and a few dollars more they moved us from the Macatawa site to the Beach site-well worth the additional cost. The campsites at the beach are more spacious and much prettier. In the future I would request a site that backs up to a sand dune. But given we were there the weekend before July 4th, we were so happy to have a site with FHU. There was a nice picnic table but no fire pit. There was no wi-fi or cable but the price was right and we were a few hundred feet from Lake Michigan. We will stay here again if the beach campground is available. Space is important to us.
This is a very nice campground featuring nice amenities for families like a pool, petting zoo, basketball courts, and rental bikes etc. The location is very nice. The showers are the nicest of any park we've stayed in. The premium site was very spacious, and we appreciated not being squeezed into a spot. We would have given this a 10 rating but the following things brought the score down: the speed bumps entering the park are huge and very scary for motorhomes; the wi-fi only works when you are at the laundry area and not in your rig; getting a wrist band to swim during adult swim time is a pain because you have to disturb the camp host unless you don't mind wearing it outside the campground (I wasn't about to wear it to my anniversary dinner at The Piper!); there's a fee for guests to visit; the desk clerk is a grump and unless one of the owners is there to see her at work she is condescending and made us feel very unwelcome. The owners, however, couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. A friendly face behind the counter makes a big difference. We felt the park was a bit pricey, but given the outstanding bath facility, we probably would stay here again for full hookup convenience. It would just be nice to have friendlier help behind the desk.
This is a new park in the Mt. Pleasant area and quite lovely. The sites are good sized and many back into a wooded area or up to a lake. Each site has a cement pad, large picnic table, firepit, and grill. Trash bins are readily available and there are attractive lights in the area so you can find your way at night. The wi-fi is excellent with enough routers to allow you to work on your computer inside your rig. The showers are fabulous. Very clean and private. We didn't take advantage of all the amenities as we were busy visiting friends, but there was plenty to do for families. We were here for four nights and will definitely stay here again!
So sorry to give this such a low rating as the host couldn't be nicer, but we camped here in a 35' motorhome and it just wasn't comfortable. He graciously helped us back into our space and helped us with our hookups but we were sardine tight. Seriously, I could hear the guy next door cough and answer his phone, not to mention his barking dog. Feral cats slept on the toad and left their paw prints on the windshield. Children ride their bikes all over and play in the streets...nice for them but not for us. The helicopters are relentless in their landing. We were hoping to invite our family over to see our new rv but it was not conducive to having visitors. Loved being close to everything but not at the expense of such close quarters. Sorry, but we will park further away next time and have some breathing space.
What a jewel of a location in the middle of nowhere! We are in route from Denver to Deadwood and didn't want to do the trek all in one day so we did a stop over in Lusk. Staff member greeted us and gave us lots of information about the area as well as everything between here and Deadwood. Bathrooms are clean and adorably decorated. The cable service is the best we've had in weeks. Unfortunately I couldn't access their free WiFi from the 50 amp site. Had to go to my WiFi and 3G connection. That's the only down side to this area. We love our location next to the blossoming lilacs! Only one night stay for us for on this trip but I could stay here again.
They have pull through sites but we opted to back up against the river. It was wonderful to fall asleep to the flow of the river. Perfect location for a quick walk to town. There was no cable access but we enjoyed using the TV room with the microwave available to pop our popcorn. Friendliness of the owners goes a long way! We would definitely stay there again. We love Ouray!
We loved the setting - simply beautiful. The park staff was fine but not overly friendly or helpful. The location was incredible for visiting Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods. We loved the museum on the property and especially loved the John Wayne movies that show every night. The culture in the area is great - we met two couples that we are still in touch with - everyone seems so friendly.
