We picked this KOA simple for location, halfway between Charleston and Savannah. This is a small KOA located in a wooded area with very little grass; mostly a sandy open area not much for physical beauty. The spot we stayed on was big enough for slide outs and still room to have a little personal space unlike some other KOA’s. The bathhouse was aged and in need of modernizing in my opinion. Not much for the children to do other than ride bikes around the campground. However, they do have a lake that was shared with another campground but not sure if there was any fish in there. We spend several hours fishing with no bites. Read several reviews on this KOA before we arrived that really scarred us. However, this is not that bad we have stayed at worse. The area is sandy so there was some muck not much mud because it was sandy. The cable is pretty good with more than basic channels to view and the workers are friendly. We stayed here 5 days and we noticed there were very few long term campers. It was mostly overnight stays. It would empty in the mornings and fill up by dark. Overall, this is not that bad of KOA, but is probably more of a short term stop not a place for long stays.

We stayed here for the possible fishing as suggested on the website. However, when we asked how to get to Laurel Lake as the website said a short walk to the lake, we were told that no one had been on that path in about 2 years and they didn't even know if it was still there. So we decided to drive to the lake, but all the lake accesses are on federal property that require a pass to park your vehicle. There was no instructions on how to obtain one of these passes. As for the campground the pool was the only attraction other than that it was a pretty small campground that loaded up with locals or permanent guest on the weekend. The internet was questionable like most KOA's but the cable had plenty of channels to choose from. I believe there was roughly 70 or 80. We got one of the luxury sites with the patio and furniture but were surprises that we had to share it with the site beside us which made the site even smaller. Not sure if we will camp here again.
