Once again, Georgia did not disappoint. There were very few campers and the park was very quiet. Sites are large, the handicapped bath house very well maintained, and the park hosts helpful. Would be nice if their wood was drier and not so hard to burn, especially considering that they do not want campers to bring their own wood.
We are local and stayed for four nights just to get away. A perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the coastal atmosphere. Rained a bit and got muddy but drainage was pretty good and it didn't last. Bathroom closest to the water is clean but old and could use updating. The handicapped bath house is new, clean, and not many people seem to use it. I was going to work in Savannah while we were here and it was like having a private bathhouse to get ready for work. We took our boat and were able to leave it in the water the entire visit which is convenient although navigating the coastal waters can be challenging.
This is a well run park. We are local and camped for a weekend with a 3 year old grandson. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We needed wood for a small fire and, rather than requiring us to purchase a large stack, they gave us a few pieces at no charge. Fishing was fun: caught nothing big, but had fun catching small blue gills. Playground could use some updating but all in all a nice weekend. We will be back.
State parks have it all over private campgrounds and Georgia stands out above most states we have visited. Clean, quiet, beautiful, well organized and maintained. Will return for sure - hated to leave.
This is a great park for the ocean. It is well kept, well run, and quiet despite the location on Highway A1A. Bath house was clean and we liked the private, family shower. Other than the ocean, there is nothing to do here. We were visiting family in the area so that was not an issue for us this time. Their gate with the padlock on it is very inconvenient. Perhaps just being lazy but every time we came in or left, we had to get out of the vehicle, unlock the padlock, open the gate, drive through, close the gate and re-lock. Just seems as if there could be an easier way.
Lovely campground with large sites. Labor Day weekend the park was full to capacity yet no feeling of being crowded. Well worth a visit with great paved roads, nice hiking trail, interesting interactive museum. Odd, though, that as paid campers, there is an additional fee to use the pool.
Nice park. Check-in was organized and easy however, we never did find the dump station on our way out. They re-cycle which is admirable but don't let you know that ahead of time. It is a large park and the map we received was hard to read - we never did find the lake. Would stay here again when we have more time so that we can explore it more.
Clean restrooms - rundown park. Motorhome was very close to river which made for a nice view however, was glad that it was not rainy. No grass close to river and can only imagine what it is like in the rain. Helpful staff - somewhat unorganized though. Some of the travel trailers appear permanent and are run down. Area is beautiful but driving to it is challenging.
Well organized park. Were able to choose our site - many to choose from. Paved road sites not shaded - preferred the shaded unpaved road. Showers clean - water way too HOT. Many park models but not a detriment. Very convenient to Disney.
