This park is an great spot to hang your hat and visit all that the Black Hills of South Dakota has to offer. The spaces are spacious (trees have been planted and will provide shade on most sites when grown), the location is just about perfect and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The new owners are adding fencing, have remodeled the bathrooms, added a laundry room and play equipment. If I had to find a negative it would only be that the laundry is very expensive (2.50 to wash/2.50 to dry) but the machines are nice, brand new HE machines. There is a reason that this camp consistently gets high reviews. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here among the plethora of other options in the area.
Very scenic park. Beautiful trees and pond. Great pool and hot tub. Older laundry room and slightly run down showers. The road coming into the park is very potholed, bumpy and narrow. Friendly office staff. Great location to visit Cajun Country.
This has been one of our best experiences to date. We are currently doing a loop around the country (8600 miles in 8.5 weeks). Nice, level sites: some clear, some treed. Beautiful lake and play equipment available for the kids. Clean game room. Older bathrooms, but very, very clean. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I highly recommend this park.
Nice entrance and setting. Cleanish bathrooms, although old. Massive stinkbug infestation in the game room. The playground was infested with hornets/bees nests and the basketball hoop was just in the back of the bathrooms in an uneven, dirt area. This park charged $5.00 per night per extra person over two, AND charged $5.00 per visitor if they stayed over an hour. Our most expensive park (we are traveling a loop around the country: 8600 miles) outside of Fort Wilderness at Disney. I called this park and made reservations in advance, repeatedly asking if a pull through site was available. While we are not overly long, we tow a car on a dolly and it is very inconvenient to have to detach the trailer in order to be able to back up. I was told, repeatedly, that all the pull through sites were reserved. Upon our arrival (on a Sunday) and seeing almost all the pull through sites available, I inquired again. Again, I was told all the sites were reserved. When we pulled out Friday morning, there were pull through sites available. When I inquired at the front office as to why I was lied to all week, I was met with a shrug. This campground is not worth the money charged.
Upon first glance, this park appeared well kept. The site was level and easy to get into. When we arrived, the office was closed and the bathrooms were locked. The office staff do not live on site. After an office person arrived and we checked in, I inquired as to the locked bathrooms and was told he would go open them. We left to visit a friend and upon our arrival back at the park at 9:00 pm we found the bathrooms (which housed the showers as well) locked and inaccessible. There was no after hours office number. When asked, we were informed that we needed to be self contained and that the bathrooms were not accessible. This was *never* communicated to us, either when making the reservation or when we first arrived. No apologizes, no redress. We left very unhappy and do not recommend this park.
