We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The office staff was very friendly and they had a nice pool and playground, but this place still left much to be desired. This campground has very little sites for transients and most of the 200+ sites are for permanent trailer residents. The sites also have very little privacy and we had to back our trailer in facing the main road loop. There was a lot of traffic noise due to the major road that was located behind our site, and the loud trucks, ATVs, and golf carts cruising the transient loop. Although the two pools and playground afforded some time away from the campsite, there really wasn't much room or privacy to enjoy our site. From crying babies to listening to vehicles drive around all night, you would think they would at least try to enforce the quiet hours. Granted you can't really stop a crying baby but there's a problem when you can see all your neighbors clear as day, camping around you. Unfortunately the only time we saw any staff was upon checking in or when we had to go to the store. By the look of the bathrooms, the staff wasn't around to clean them up as well. They were dirty and had very little privacy in both men and women showers. Communal in the mens and no changing stall for the women. They did have some activities planned for the holiday weekend but when the actually day came, no one was on staff. This meant that the store and pool weren't opened. So the day in which most people enjoy the first weekend of the pool being open: nobody was here to let people use the two pools. Too bad because it would have been nice to take a dip when the temps hit 90 degrees. Overall we tried to make the best of it, but we will not be returning to this campground. PS: The 6 miles it takes to get to this campground off the interstate, is a very curvy and mountainous road. Plan on taking it slow.

One of our favorite staycation campgrounds. We are Maryland residents and Assateague is one of those places which is very special to us. Where else can you camp with wild beach ponies? The facilities are clean and the beaches are beautiful. The park is also handicap accessible which allowed us to bring our uncle with cerebal palsey to visit. They have free beach wheel chairs for use and ramps to the rest areas. Overall a wonderful place to make great memories.

We bought our travel trailer from a private owner who kept it at this RV park. We stayed one evening but would stay again if we needed a place to pit stop. Conveniently located right off I-95. Small RV park, quiet, and roomy. Grounds looked well-maintained.

The ranger was very helpful on our phone conversation. He was willing to stay past closing if we didn't make it in time to check in. The beach sites are paved and although we were not a few feet from the ocean, we were close enough to see it and the boardwalk to the beach was literally at our feet. At the time we stayed there the beach was getting dredged so there was no access. The bathrooms are dated but clean. Open air shower stalls but very roomy. We would stay here again.

Felt more like a residential park as there were lots of permanents. The sites are very close together and I didn't have a good first impression after parking our RV. When I walked into my camper, I didn't realize I had stepped in dog poo and tracked it in. So that initially turned me off. The bathroom stalls felt claustrophobic and the woman's restroom had sprung a leak in the middle of the shower stalls. Water was everywhere and at one point I watched a woman get sprayed in the face with water because the sink knob was missing. We would not camp here again.

My husband has been camping for over thirty years and our mom has been camping even longer. They said that this was the best campground they have ever been to. I must agree with them as well. The sites were well maintained and level. Each site was surrounded by palm trees which created good privacy. We had reservations for a site and upon arrival we asked if we could get a waterfront site. They were able to accommodate us and we spent our week with probably one of the best campsites with a spectacular sunset view. Not only was the view great but we could literally launch our kayak just a few feet away from our site. Each site comes with a picnic table and fires are permitted as long as you have a fire pit. No need to worry because although the sites don't come with a pit you still can rent one from the camp store. The rangers and staff were all very nice and helpful. They park itself was just immaculate and my husband raved about the showers. All bathrooms were open air but the shower stalls were like roman showers with a private dressing area. Hot water and massage like water pressure. We all felt good after our showers. They do have Wi-Fi but you need to use it at the office. The playgrounds looked fun and inviting. Simply a beautiful place to stay, we were sad to leave. We will certainly be there again next winter.

Very convenient campground off I-95. Stayed here twice traveling back home. The first visit we stayed because of the major December storm in 2009. We pulled in before dark and was greeted by a friendly park attendant who gave us great information about the campground and surrounding areas. After checking in, he guided us to our site and waved us in since it was getting close to dark at this time. We opted to stay additional days because of the storm and since we just bought our camper a few days before we were unequipped to use their cable TV. They were nice enough to let us borrow a cable in the meantime. We recently came back from a trip from Florida and opted to stop there again on our way home. They remembered us from our first stay and gave us a friendly welcome back. The campground itself is pretty well maintained. Other than the facilities being dated they were still very clean and spacious. We would camp here again as a nice stop off on our way home.
