This is a popular park so reservations are highly recommended as there are only three pull-through sites. All conveniently located near the entrance. If assigned a pull through site, I suggest you call in advance for your site number and park before registering. We had site 4 which was on the end with an open area on both sides. However, it is also the closest site to the railroad which runs along W.Pacific. The amphitheater shown on their park map is no longer in use. The location was an easy drive to local attractions like the Truman Presidential Library and the World War I museum in Kansas City. We would definitely stay here again.
While we were traveling east on the 54, we were looking for an overnight stop near Wichita that would allow us to avoid the metro area and its traffic. Thanks to the directions from the owners of the park, we were able to take the 235N just west of Wichita and reconnect to the 54 just west of Deer Grove RV Park. It worked out perfectly.
The park is an easy on and off from the I-40 and is close to Old Town Albuquerque. The swimming pool is heated, the grassy areas were beautiful and the cafe area for the free continental breakfast was very pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.
We were a little skeptical about stopping here for the night so were pleasantly surprised by the newly paved interior roads and fine gravel sites. The park was almost full so reservations are seriously recommended. There are some full-time residents but you would be hard pressed to tell them apart from those just passing through. We would definitely stay here again on a stop over.
