One of the nicest county campgrounds we have visited. Level well maintained sites, great bike / walking trails and close to shopping. Sites are large and separated by trees and foliage. The only reason for the 9 instead of a ten is the cost of $7 to make a reservation PLUS a 5 per day ($25 per year) county use fee. For a site without a sewer hook up it is pretty pricey for a one time one week stay. We would stay here again without hesitation!
We found this park to be a bit pricey for the quality of camp site. We stayed on a concrete pad on the main road and not in the transient camp sites. Train tracks are behind the campgrounds. Grass was not mowed and the picnic table and fire ring were in very poor repair. The pool was closed when we visited as things were slowing down due to the end of the season. They still charged $8 more ($38) for weekends which we felt was just to much for the site we occupied. Shaded sites are very shaded with no access to a satellite signal. Large campground with only one trash drop off that we could find. Seasonals are the primary business here. We chose to move after one night. Might be worth it for a family with kids during prime season.
We came for a week and stayed for a month! The Willows is a beautifully laid out big rig friendly park with trees strategically placed to give each site a sense of privacy even when the park is full. All facilities are clean, well kept and convienient including washrooms, laundry facilities and office “mini store”. The campground is very close to Longbow Lake and Lake of the Woods making it a great place for access to abundant water activities. The location of the campground lends itself to hiking, biking, walking and great interaction with folk from Winnipeg and other surrounding communities who visit for the weekend or the season. Water, electric (hydro as the Canadians call it) and sewer systems all performed as expected. WIFI is weak in the very back of the park. We would recommend a good filter on the water due to a relatively high iron content. For the most important aspect of the campground a word needs to be said for the owners and staff. They and their family are professionals in the art of hospitality. They truly care about your comfort, enjoyment and overall experience of your stay. Need a rental boat? The owner will get one for you. Need firewood? It will be delivered to your site in a flash! Have an emergency and the staff will do whatever it takes to help. (This actually happened during our stay) We found this campground to be the very best of most all aspects of the RV and campground experience. We have already made our plans to return next summer for another month of their hospitality and the enjoyment of the wonderful people we met during our stay. I have never rated a park a “10” but in our book, Willows is a 10!
Great campground and wonderful staff. Lots of extra activities, including a driving range, swimming pond, fishing pond, play set for the little ones. Great place to camp and we will be back. Paid for 6 nights and got the 7th free.
First the positives: next to a river, close to a golf course and shopping. The negatives: Over priced for the facilities, poorly kept with long grass and very poor restrooms with very primitive showers. This camp is not very big rig friendly with limbs and power lines that should be higher. Get a firm price before accepting a spot. We were quoted $35 when we made our advance reservation. The price jumped up to $38 when we arrived. We mentioned membership to FMCA and Good Sam so he discounted down to $35! I like to feel like I can trust the camp ground owner to shoot straight. We will not stay here again. It's just to primitive.
Excellent camp ground! Great facilities, well kept with a great staff. The campground is a bit tight and the Wi-Fi worked about 1/2 of the time. When it went out the staff immediately reset the server and got it back up, all to their credit. We paid a weekly rate and felt it was a good value. We would definitely stay here again!
This campground is really not big rig friendly. Low tree branches and narrow rural roads to get to the location. The office was not manned upon our arrival but the mgmt does answer the phone. The problem is that there is little to no wireless phone service in the campgrounds. A 911 call would be a problem at least while we were there. We chose to move after one night due to low elevation and forecast heavy rain. Getting out after heavy rain would be a challenge.
Great location, don't let the West Memphis entry fool you! Best approach is on Martin Luther King Drive to the South loop. Bypasses the residential area and is much easier to navigate safely. Great views of the barge traffic on the river and superior attention to the park by the staff; they are far above average. Wifi to our site was unusable (end site at the river front). We enjoyed our stay and extended from 4 nights to a week. We will stay here next time we pass through. If the Wifi had worked it would have rated a 10!
We paid the weekly rate and stayed 7 nights. The park was clean but is located near a busy intersection. We did not see any on site management but had no issues that required personal attention. Pull through sites were very tight and prevented use of our awning. Location gave easy access to Shreveport and even Monroe 70 miles away. Pull through sites at the front of the campground are best for overnight stays only as they are just to limiting.
We found this campground to be a great place to spend some time. Very clean, most sites have ample room and the owners are great folk. Facilities were spotless (laundry and showers). We would definitely stay here again.
