Sites are on the smaller side but not too bad. Very grassy which was great. Paved roads, great owners, nice swimming beach (although the water was high when we were there, so the beach wasn't as big.) Campground is mostly seasonal. That's OK as we weekenders were accepted well. Codgers is located right next to a town ball baseball field. We would like to stay there next time when they are playing. Great dock fishing here and pontoon rental. Really can't say enough good things about this place. We will be making this a staple on our yearly agenda.
I would have easily given this place a 10 but the only thing holding it back is the fact its not finished. Probably the nicest place in MN we have ever been too. Big sites on cement, great pool, landscaping is nice, exercise room. Tasty Pizza down the street that will deliver to your site, close to Nisswa for shopping/bar when it rains. The clubhouse is huge with a full kitchen for campers use. I could go on and on about the positives. If the place was finished I would have no problem giving it a 20. There is no doubt that we will be coming back.
Was bummed out about the mile long dirt road leading to the campground. But once we pulled in it was well worth it. Mostly seasonal sites but they do have like 28 for "travelers." Owners couldn't have been nicer and the pool is probably the biggest we have seen, great office with very good pizza. Seasonal campers are very friendly. Overall just a very relaxing place to spend a couple days. Best campground we have been to in south central MN. Forgot to mention the big and VERY grassy sites. We will go back for sure!
What a gem!!!...Huge grassy sites, Awesome 2 acre man made lake that they call the pool, tube trips down the river (4 hour or 8 hour ride) and they actually let you use your own tube if you have one. There are some negatives. The pool and office close at 6 during the week (not sure about the weekend), be prepared to have no cell phone or internet service (they are working on the Wi-Fi) as you are in the middle of nowhere Iowa, dump station connection is odd...But those couple drawbacks are nothing compared to all the positives about this place. We would go back for sure, but it would have to be a extended stay (far from home). Great place!
If you like to bike, this is the place for you. They have bike trails that go forever. If your not into biking, its a OK campground. Nice grassy sites that are a bit on the small side. Nice pool that unfortunately they close for extended periods of time at the slightest sound of thunder. Owners are very nice. All in all its a nice place to stop if in the area. Not a destination campground in the least. We would go back if in the area.
This campground is mostly used by people that own their sites. However, the spots that are not owned can be used for overnight guests. This is actually two campgrounds East and West. A county road divides them. We heard no noise at all from the road. This is a very big campground, so bring good shoes. You will be walking a lot. Decent pool, fishing on the lake off the docks, mini golf course needs work, fun hayride on Saturday night, little game room with air hockey and ping pong. Very nice staff working. This place does living up after dark. Nice place to visit for a weekend. We will go back.
Very nice place to visit if you have kids. Great playground and pool and nice mini golf course. They have a shuttle that will bring and pick you up from a tube trip down the river. Tubing was fun, but very weedy. Very friendly owners. This is one of those campgrounds were they bill everything (wood, ice, mini golf, etc.) to your site and you pay when you leave. Some people don't like that. We could care less. Only negative I can think of is that their dump station is located next to the pool. So if you happen to be staying past Sunday, you might want to wait to go swimming til late afternoon. We would go back!
This is a resort that caters mostly to people who want to fish. As it is on Leech lake. However, it is a great place for families that are not going to take the boat out also. They say they only have 5 RV sites, but we saw people coming and going all 3 days we were here, into other sites. So that was rather confusing. Now what a awesome place to be. Our kids (7 and 8) are still raving about it. Nice (but on the small side) beach with a big water slide going into the lake and a water trampoline, free kayaks and ducks that will come and eat bread out of your hand. Now when it gets too hot on the beach, they have a awesome indoor pool and hot tub, with attached arcade and exercise room. Only negative about this place is the biting flies, they didn't bother us too bad but they loved feasting on our dog. We had to put her in the camper a lot. And they staff is pretty laid back and get to stuff when they get to it. Our garbage can from the previous people wasn't picked up till a day after we arrived. So we woke up and had to pick up shredded garbage from the raccoons the night before. But all the positives totally outweigh the couple negatives about Acorn Hill. We will go back for sure.
One of the best campgrounds we have been too yet. Has a friendly staff, huge sites, great swimming pool area, supper club across the street, bike and walking trails. Has a very nice office and this campground is laid out well for the occasional walk. We will drive the 3 hours to spend a weekend here.
Nice place to stop and relax. The sites are a bit on the crowded side. But the ones we had overlooked the lake. Great beach for the kids, pontoon rental was reasonable. Owner working in the office could not be a nicer person. If in the area we would not hesitate to come back.
Had a great time at Summer Haven. Nice big grassy sites. Ours was just yards from the lake. The beach had free paddle boats and fun swimming for the kids. Pool was a little small but it did the job for the 2 hot days we were there. Owners were fantastic and they hosted a family bingo and ice cream social while we stayed. Beware of the map quest or GPS directions, they both will send you to the wrong side of the lake. Other then that it was a fantastic place. We will go back.
Nice place with lots of trees. Almost a state park feel to it. Has a very big pool area that the kids enjoyed. Also has a petting zoo with rabbits, goats and a donkey. Also has 2 playgrounds and a arcade. If this place gets a decent rain, it would get a little messy. We would go back if in the area.
Nice little campground if in the area. Nothing special to drive 2 hours to go to. Sites on the lake are nice but tight. Pool was very warm and the kids had fun. Mini golf had a ton of hornets hanging around, but seemed to not be bothered by golfers. Owner was very nice and helpful. One of the few campgrounds where you pay when you leave. We would go again if in the area.
Average campground, but it has a nice bar/grill right on site (actually its the office) with great food. There are large and grassy sites up top by the ball field, although no shade. Pool was fun for the kids. Haycreek has the best workers/owners we have ever visited. We were amazed by the laid back attitude that was displayed while we were here. We are already talking about getting a group to go down in 2011.
Very beautiful campground. Nice big sites down by the river. Yes they do make you pick up your rug or mat, but thank god they do because it poured sheets when we pulled in. And if it wasn't for the nice lush grass, we would have been setting up in a mess. Inner-tubing down the river is the highlight of this campground or watching the eagles hover overhead. They do have a beach that the kids can wade in, but the playground is out-dated and a long walk. We will be back.
Very fun campground. Nice big sites in a cul-de-sac setup. Lots of dirt (messy if it rains). They had karaoke and a DJ when we went and it was a blast. They have a indoor pool and nice playground for the kids. Inner tube trips down the St.Croix was a lot of fun. Best campstore we have seen. This campground is very popular with ATV riders, but they were very respectful of the campground and the kids that were running or biking around. We for sure will be back.
Love this campground. Beautiful sites on the river, if you get in the lower level. They won't let you use a rug so if it rains your camper might get a little dirty. Awesome new office and rumor has it they will be adding a pool in the future. But for now, they do have a small beach on the river. I would have given it a 10, but they want $10 a tube to go tubing (family of 4 =$40) even if you have your own tubes. We will for sure go back.
Small campground located in the city. Great place to stop if you plan on going to the Mega Mall, Twins game, Valleyfair or Canterbury. If you want more of a Camping feel with trees and woods and lots of space look elsewhere. If you go here, take a walk to the Tin Shed Tavern about a block away. Great pizza and cold beer.
Average campground that is located in a great spot if you are looking to spend the day at all the attractions in the Dells. Right across the street from Mt. Olympus. Unfortunately you have to risk your life getting across the street to go to Mt.Olympus (they need a stoplight or some kind of walk bridge). This Campground needs to have the garbage dumped more often, you get a nice smell of it if there is any breeze. Will go back only if planning to go to the Dells.
Very nice campground with plenty of shade. Actually the longer we were there the more we liked it. The pool has a nice bar that is open on Friday and Saturday nights, so that was a fun time. Otherwise nothing extravagant, just a overall nice place to spend a couple days.
One of our top two favorite campgrounds!! Very clean and scenic, two pools and a hot tub for the adults. Big playgrounds and lots of open space for the kids. Lake with a beach and fishing dock. Wish we lived closer, we would be back every year. Every couple years will do for now. Do yourself a favor and spend a weekend at this great campground.
Very nice place to spend the weekend. Looked to be mostly seasonals. We had a nice pull through site with plenty of room. Owners are very nice and made us feel welcome. Pool was a little small but the kids had a blast anyway. We will definitely come back if we are in the area.
Very nice laidback capmground. Mostly for seasonals. Nice grassy sites that saved us because it rained quite a bit. Small playground that the kids lost interest in fast. Very nice owners and would recommend this place for a quick get away for a relaxing weekend. We will go back.
Really loved this campground. VERY clean and pretty. Great place for young children. Two pools, two playgrounds and a Dirt bike track. Lots of seasonals, but you would not guess because all the campers look really new. Very friendly owners also. Big sites and pretty level. Will definitely be back.
Our favorite campground so far. A little something for everyone. Shaded sites, open sites all with concreate pad, cable, blacktopped roads, great pools, fun playground/bike park. Great staff, beautiful mini-golf course. Short walk to big red barn for some great tasting pizza. Unfortunatly we will not be able to return because they have a restriction on Rottweilers. We have a son with special needs and he will be getting a therapy dog this fall that happens to be a Rottweiler. It is unfortunate we will not be able to come back unless we leave our son and his dog at home. We would like to come back.
We were there during the week and the place was busy. Would not come on the weekend. Very fun for Kids seven and under. Older kids got a little board. Sites are nothing great, but that was fine cause we did not spend much time at them. One drawback was teenagers flying around on golf carts at night. Do not come here if you want quiet. We would return with kids only.
If you want quiet and a place just to kick back, this is for you. If you have young kids that need something to do, don't come here. Playground was a lawsuit in the making. No pool or beach. Lots of seasonals, kind of had a trailer park feel. Will not be back.
